So, I just had my first Yoga class ever - from 4:30 to 5:30, in the Ballet Room of the UCM Gym.
There was this really cool pose (child's), and it's so easy to breathe in that pose! Awesomeness.
Some of the stuff was easy (Child's is wonderful). Some of the stuff was challenging (Downward Facing Dog is tough on my hands..). There was a lot of breathwork, too. I think the whole thing (well, at least most of the whole thing) was timed by breathing in 'as you do so and so', then breathing out and letting the next so-and-so happen.
Oddly enough, the class seemed to reduce my belt size by one notch. o_O
However, this might just be because I made a conscious effort to put my pants around my waist, not hips. ;)
Oh, and the memory* of those stories I heard in the 90s of people just plain not getting Yoga and falling down and whatnot, helped me feel better when I had no clue what the heck we were being asked to do.
*: I didn't even know I had this memory, but apparently, there it was.
