It doesn't matter what the arena - all professional football referees seem to be utterly incompetent and/or corrupt.
Just been watching the Indoor Football championship final on Eurosport. Hosts Spain were trailing 5-1 to Russia at half-time when I started watching. And yet thanks to possibly the most blatant refereeing bias I've seen all year (which is saying quite a lot) they ended up winning 11-10 after extra time. Thanks mainly to 4 goals (and dozens of ridiculous decisions in their favour) in the second half of normal play:
Spanish player dives to the ground like he's been shot. Free kick, 6-4
Spanish player bodychecks a Russian off the ball, play continues, 6-5
Ball is cleared by Spanish keeper. Free kick randomly given to Spain for no discernible reason, taken quickly before anyone is ready, 6-6
In the dying seconds, Russia score with a free kick, 7-6
For some reason, the referee then elects to continue play until Spain equalise. Over 2 minutes later, they do. 7-7, final whistle and 2 Russians are immediately red-carded for pointing out how much additional time was played. Cue an attempted Russian walk-off (which IMHO they should have proceeded with - they had won the match fairly, but it was clear that there was no way Spain were going to be allowed to lose) before they reluctantly retook to the pitch for extra time.
The ref in the Barbariand-England rugby game, which I also saw the second half of, was pretty damn poor too.
