And The Hits Just Keep On Coming...

So, by now you've probably heard that one of my favorite Yankees, Jim Leyritz, apparently was drunk driving Friday morning and killed a 30 year-old mother of two when his SUV slammed into her car as he ran a red light. He refused a breathalizer and is charged with DUI Manslaughter. Amazing how quickly a guy can go from being a personal favorite Yankee to a killer scumbag in your mind. He will NOT be welcomed back to Yankee Stadium any time soon, if ever. Worst part of the story, the ladies husband asked her to stop waitressing the late shift because he was worried about her driving home so late. She had three days left on the late shift before moving to days.

Friday night, as I got to the gig down the shore, Blair got a phone call from Danny. His 90 year old grandmother fell and hit her head. He was on his way to the hospital to see her.

I get home from the gig at 2 AM. I take a shower and am asleep by 2:30. At 5:30, Sheila wakes me hunched over in pain asking me to wake up to bring her to the ER. I do 50 down Route 28, blowing red lights because she's almost screaming bloody murder she's in so much pain. We get to Somerset Medical (which I had to look up online, as we had NO IDEA where any hospitals were) and they had Sheila on an IV drip and injected with pain medication in under 45 minutes. Before we left, she passed a Kidney stone.

Yesterday, about 9 PM, she got another one. We stayed home and she passed it, but I was up until almost 2 AM with her. I went to bed, woke up this morning, showered and dressed and was walking out the door when I saw Sheila sitting up. A THIRD Stone. She made me go to work.

I decided to drive to Union because we usually get out early on New Year's Eve, and as my normal bus (the 117) runs only from 4:55 PM to 7:25 PM, I went to Union to take my old bus that runs every 30 minutes all day. Figured I'd drive home from Union whatever time I got in. Except, they are on a holiday schedule today. I had to wait almost 50 minutes in wet 30 degree weather. Even with gloves, I was numb.

I get to work and found out my sick co-worker, Michelle, passed away Saturday afternoon.

I mean...

Stop the world I wanna get off please.

I swear to GOD I just want to hit something, HARD. Can we PLEASE stop this little wheel of bad SHIT going on? It's got a fucking body count and everything!

Oh, and I called Sheila an hour ago, she still hasn't passed the stone from this morning.

FUCK!

UPDATE! (3:08 PM) - Talked to Sheila a while ago and she finally passed the third stone! She's wore OUT.

sickness, kidney stone, dui, emergency room, new year's eve, death, work
