Best place for an ambush?
I need some help from those in the nautical know!
In my current fic, there is a ship sailing from Southampton, England to Port Royal, Jamaica. Jack is on Tortuga, but he is about to set sail to ambush this ship and pilfer it's Cargo. Norrington has already set sail from Port Royal on the Dauntless. He intends to catch Jack red-handed... ie attacking the ship.
Does anyone know a way that this could happen? Is there an island that the ship would pass where Jack could lie low in wait for it. How would he not see Norrington following him, or how would Norrington catch him?
Any help would be greatly appreciated... My knowledge of Caribbean geography is limited to maps, but I figured that some of you might have a more intimate knowledge of the area, and more nautical understanding of pirate attacks.
