This image from Wikipedia shows that every generation looks back on the previous as being more pure, innocent and virtuous than the current "debauched" one. Imagine, women daring to understand where babies come from, the nerve! The women are viewing anatomical waxes, which were of a high quality in the 18th century and were used as teaching devices because corpses were not readily available for dissection.
