Was there an activity about asking questions?  I hope so, because I have one.  Hope it's OK to post it now.  If not, please delete and I'm sorry.

How much time passes between CotBP and DMC?

I've seen a lot of fics which seem to assume it's only a day or two, but surely it would take months - at least - to organise a big wedding, destroy Norrington' ( Read more... )

I don't think there are any clues in the movies themselves, but on the DMC writers' commentary, they say that a year has passed between CotBP and DMC :)

Only a day or two? Huh, I haven't seen that before - I always felt it was a year. It's defined in Jack's time as captain of the Pearl - "Technically, I was only captain for two years and then I was viciously mutinied upon." Two years, plus ten years without the Pearl (as stated in CotBP), then one more year between CotBP and DMC to equal the thirteen years of his bargain with Davy Jones.

I thought the exact same thing. I did the math as well and concluded, one year.

Yup, the math is pretty convincing. I'm starting to wonder why I was ever unsure. Thank you!

You're welcome! What I'm really curious about is the time between DMC and AWE - it's obviously quite a chunk, in which some interesting things happen.

There's no reason to delete this, it's fine.

Yes, I thought it was at least a year - give or take a month - as well, for the same reason as choose2live.

Well, look what happened all in between: The Pearl went back to the Isla de Muerta, the island sank, Jack and Norrington encounters the hurricane. Norrington returns to Port Royal and quits his station there. Will and Elizabeth are engaged; Will teaches her to use a sword. Jack searches for The Key (and has already a while when he breaks into the Turkish prison he escapes out of at the beginning of DMC).

Then there are the happenings of 'The Legend of Jack Sparrow' a game, in which Jack takes Will on a journey.

All that? Takes at least about a year, I suppose. (At least in my inner timeline it does.)

Well, look what happens in pretty much any 30 minutes of AWE!
Seriously, yup, it's a year. Thanks.

Jack captained the Black Pearl for thriteen years. Officially, that is. He says that he actually captained it for only two years, until he got viciously mutinied on. Ten years Barbossa had his ship before he could claim her back. DMC starts when the thriteen years are over, when Davy Jones wants Jack to settle his debt.

So it has to be a year from the last scene of CotBP until Bootstrap appears on the Pearl.

The numbers are very convincing. Thank you.
