Forgive me if I'm repeating what other people have said or if I have questions already answered. I'd just appreciate a nod in the right direction since I'm starting to be fic-minded again. =)
Actually when watching the film again I realized why Arjuna got bored. Still I was a little surprised because he usually has a longer attention span. And when the final scenes of battle started up he amazingly never got interested again. Whatever, I still enjoyed it.
So I have some questions and random observations. I know not all of my thoughts are here, it's bugging the hell out of me that I can't remember them all because there was something in particular within the first hour (I think before meeting up with Jack) that I had a question about while watching.
01. Barnicals on Singapore pirates - what? I remember wondering the first time what was up with that. They look so much like extended members of Davy's crew. What do people think?
02. I realized this time around that Groves was back! I also wondered if I'd seen Gillete (sp??) but after checking the cast list on imdb that idea got shot down. Still, I was surprised about Groves. In my mind, and my own little world, both men had accompanied Norrington on his fanatical search for Jack.
03. Returning to the steam bathhouse, I'm just curious if anyone knows if that's how things are really set up? I recognized it as pretty much exactly how it's portrayed in Miyazaki's Spirited Away.
04. While still in the afterlife, what's the difference between the people in the boats vs. the people in the water? And was Davy Jones supposed to guide all souls to the afterlife? Or only those who die at sea? I'm of the mind that it's only those of the sea.
05. Tia sounds different this time around, anyone else notice that? She almost sounds like she has a cold. That 50-foot woman bit (ugh, that's one of my main complaints) - what the hell is she shouting? o____0
06. How does Beckett know about Calypso? Davy Jones certainly wouldn't have told him. And it seems he thinks Elizabeth is Calypso, if I'm remembering right, because in his meeting with Jack he shows some interesting in Lizzie.
07. Those misleading coins that you're supposed to think on the pieces of eight - what are they? What does Beckett think they are? Does he think he has them all since he's lined them up (and aren't there nine?) And why do you think there are nine pieces?
08. The Breathern Court has met four times, according to Barbossa's announcement that this is the 4th. Well, we know that the first was convened to bind Calypso (and how did that go down with the communication between Davy and the captains?) The 4th is declaration of war (Barbossa frees Calypso on his own, basically). What were the 2nd and 3rd meetings about? (When did they take place? Not in anyone's current lifetime.)
09. The "real" pieces of eight - is it like Gibbs said that it's "whatever we happen to have in our pockets at the time"? That doesn't make any sense to me. Jack had to be brought back to attain his piece and Sao Fen gives Elizabeth the necklace, which is his piece. So doesn't it make sense that what each of the lords put in are what's been passed down through the centuries?
10. Sao Fen tells Lizzie she needs all the cords to be set free. (Did he really think everyone's pieces were cords like his?)
11. Davy Jones only mentions his first ten years. Presumeably it was only those first ten that he retained something of his human self. After that he started to become a monster... think that was after the Breathern convened and bound Calypso?
12. Dutchman's crew - she'll always need one. How does she have one before and after Davy's instatement of the slavery clause?
13. This is the big question I'm dying to hear about: what happens if the Dutchman's captain stays on land past his time? Indescribable pain? Poof! he's in the ocean? Teleportation? (is that how Davy got from ship to ship? How far can he travel like that?) Does he turn into sea form ala the little mermaid?
Okay, okay, I know that's a crapload of questions. Any ideas I would love to hear! Oh, and on one last note I have to say I hate that Norrington dies after having such a small part this film *cries* I fell in love last film. And is anyone else annoyed that it took forever for Beckett to die? What a wimp! And there wasn't even a satisfactory burning body scene or something. =p
14. I lied, one more since I thought of Beckett. What is Beckett and Jack's past? >.<
