Rating: G
When: Today
Where: Around the island
Summary: Atobe and Tezuka exchange text messages
Author's note: Yeah, some of the talks at this conference went on a bit today, can you tell? (^.~)

Atobe: Tezuka. Be awed by my iPhone

Tezuka: Atobe. If I was to be awed, it would be by my own device.

Atobe: Your choice of wording is heavy with innuendo, Tezuka

Tezuka: Or perhaps you have partaken in too much port this morning.

Atobe: We are out of port, it is a travesty. Such a beverage could hardly cloud my insight however.

Tezuka: Aa.
Tezuka: Isn't your teammate housing all of your liquor?

Atobe: You acknowledge my prowess. I am gratified
Atobe: Shishido has what remains. Considerable and high quality, but not superb enough for breakfast. One must never begin the day with anything less than perfection.

Tezuka: Surely you have others as
Tezuka: Of late to do that for you.
Tezuka: Aa. Tea is better than alcohol. :|

Atobe: You have stopped making sense, Tezuka. Has my prowess dazzled you?
Atobe: Tea would be acceptable with the right company. You should join me daily.
Atobe: There is poor reception in this cave of astronomy. It is trying.

Tezuka: On the contrary, I have full faculties of mind.
Tezuka: However, you seem to be sharing your time with many people. I do not wish to cut in on their time with you.

Atobe: An incorrect assumption. There are many who are not suitable for my presence.

Tezuka: I'm sure there is a list. I admit to being very slightly taken aback on who has been giving you company as of late.

Atobe: Your distress is centred on your teammate, ahn?

Tezuka: Aa.
Tezuka: Though it is not distress.

Atobe: Yet I recall you being dissatisfied with our previous behaviour.
Atobe: Jealousy is understandable, Tezuka

Tezuka: I just do not wish for anything severe to occur to a close friend. There is no jealousy.

Atobe: Is it Fuji you fear for, or myself?

Tezuka: Yourself. I know what Fuji is capable of.

Atobe: I am gratified you acknowledge our bond but you of all people should not underestimate me. Are you sure you are not denying jealousy?

Tezuka: It will be your funeral, but no. I am not denying anything. I am quite content.

Atobe: Rest assured, I am well protected. In the eventuality of my demise, however, I hope I can rely on you for an acceptable obituary.

Tezuka: Are you sure you don't want to leave that to Oshitari?

Atobe: I am worth more than one piece. But surely you do not disagree that, as a close equal, your words are appropriate?

Tezuka: I suppose.

Atobe: You appear plagued with uncertainty. That is unlike you. Does the prospect of my death upset you so?

Tezuka: Not in the slightest.

Atobe: Denial is unbecoming

Tezuka: Only if there is something to deny.

Atobe: I know your heart better than this, Tezuka. My loss could never be compensated for.

Tezuka: You know nothing of my heart. There is nothing And no one I love more than tennis.

Atobe: Which is why I am irreplaceable

Tezuka: You are not tennis.

Atobe: Tennis requires players who can serve her well

Tezuka: And not those who abandon her.

Atobe: Tezuka, you do my intentions a disservice.

Tezuka: You have no intention to play professionally. That is a disservice to tennis.

Atobe: Of all of us here, most do not even aspire to the pro circuit.

Tezuka: Most of them are not of the same calibre.

Atobe: Indeed. Yet my prowess extends beyond tennis. As do my responsibilities. Surely you are not advocating recklessness?

Tezuka: A little recklessness doesn't hurt as long as one doesn't move into being overly careless.

Atobe: Abandoning a degree in favour of a sport might fall into that latter category

Tezuka: Not if you are confident that you will be successful. As for me, should tennis not pan out, I will return to school.

Atobe: It is hardly a question of success with regard to myself. But I am the heir to the family company. It is no grocers store

Tezuka: You could assume your throne after your tennis career.

Atobe: Training for that is required. I will be no less than my father before me.

Tezuka: Classes on the circuit would not be out of your abilities.

Atobe: That is ... Possible. To give anything but my best would be an insult to both myself and tennis, of course.

Tezuka: Of course.

Atobe: I shall consider your words.

Tezuka: Aa.
