Summery Horrible nightmares have been haunting Lovino ever since Ivan built a large stone wall which is now separating him and everyone else from a good chunk of the East. While lying in the darkness, he begins to reminisce about the past and all his encounters with a certain albino who is among those on the other side.
I do not usually write fanfics or well...write at all...for a reason. This is why OTL But, I made a commitment to write this to pair up with a roleplay my lovely and I started months ago. So um...hope you like it. OTL (A thanks to you, lovey, for editing the hell out of this. OTL )
This was strange. He was floating in a black void, lacking in light or any objects but himself.. Almost...like he was falling, though he could not feel the rush of wind past his ears or the sense of gravity against his body. 'What the hell going on?' It felt strange. Though he could not see the ground getting closer nor could he see anything growing smaller above him, he was not afraid. Despite that, however, he was insainly curious to know where he was headed.
Soon, his feet touched ground, though it seemed to almost blend in to his surroundings. Then suddenly, a light. "Where the hell's that coming from?" Looking up, he saw the source: A man, not terribly tall in height, was standing quite a distance away, taking on a commanding position in the way he stood. A shock of mussed white hair nearly blended into the pale complexion, but it was those eyes. striking and crimson, that stood out above all else. A splash of color in an otherwise monochromatic world, painted even more by the arrogant smirk that curved on his lips.
Of course it figures this jerk would be in his dreams. Even in the subconscious, he plagued him. It most certainly pleased him, judging by the cocky smile on his face. He made his way to him, hell-bent on giving him a piece of his mind, though he knew full well that it would end in....unmentionable acts, as it always did.
However, before he could make it there, the ground began to tremble, a distant rumbling cutting through the eerie silence. It grew louder and more intense, causing his footing to grow unsteady. The ground cracked before him, and there, rising out like some ominous prescience, was a great stone wall, endlessly reaching for the sky.
No...No!
He surged forward, and began to pound his fists against the unforgiving stone surface. He shouted and screamed, his voice echoing into nothing, and hit the wall until bloody smears painted the wall where he struck. Despite the pain, all he could think of was getting to him, to Gilbert, trapped on the other side in his communist prison. He tried his best to beat the wall down with his bare fists. He wanted so desperately to get to him.
A soft chuckle rang out in the silence, and with a start, Lovino turned sharply around. His body went numb when he saw who had joined him.
Ivan smiled at him placidly, holding that lead pipe he held dear ominously in his hand. He said nothing, merely smiling that infuriating, horrifying smile, as he stepped slowly closer to him. Lovino tried to step back, but felt himself pressed up against cold, unfeeling stone. There was no escape...there would never be any escape. He watched as Ivan stopped before him, and cheerfully raised his pipe overhead. There was a shout of terror, and the pipe swung down swiftly-
Lovino shot up in bed, face dripping with sweat horrified and breathing very heavily. The shock of waking from such a moment in his dream was long in ebbing from him but once he regained himself, he got up and made his way to the bathroom.
"Damn it. How many times am I gonna have that damn dream...?" He mumbled angrily to himself as he splashed cold water in his face. This dream had been haunting him from years; ever since he went to pay that bastard a visit. He'd gone and there obstructing his path was that very wall from his dreams.
For a long moment, he stared at his reflection in the mirror. His face looked haggered from lack of sleep and there were dark circles under his eyes. After such dreams, he couldn't bring himself to sleep anymore; sleep no longer offered him respite with such dreams. Feliciano often worried over him, but he only retorted with his usual angry remarks, causing him to relax as his brother's temper was normal. With another bout of cursing, he threw his towel at the mirror and went to fall face first on his bed.
What time was it anyway? Glancing at the clock, the bright red numbers displayed 3:15. Well, it was later than normal at least. He grabbed his pillow and took to hugging it. As he laid there in the quite of the night, his mind began to wander, back far into the past to when he and Gilbert had first met. Feliciano had always assumed it had been during the most recent war, but that was a lie. Really, it was much farther in the past, when he was just a small boy...
Yes...Back when he was controlled by that bastard Antonio....
