5 Years Later...
"Baba, will you tie my hair like this?"
The five year old little girl in pink jumper who is sitting on a high stool in front of the vanity asks, her little hands fisting her hair in two pigtails. A man with his black hair down that covers his forehead and downing on a white polo shirt and a pair of washed out jeans with Converse sneakers walks to the little girl with a sigh.
"Younghee, you should ask your mommy instead of me,"Lu Han says to the girl as he grabs a comb and a ponytail from the vanity. Younghee pouts, scowling cutely with her eyes pleading.
"But baba, I like it when you fix my hair. Mommy isn't very good at tying my hair up and she always pull on it. It hurts sometimes, baba!" Lu Han laughs and nods, brushing her daughter's hair gently. Younghee is really irresistible and cute that one can just say no. "That's because she looks like me," he thought with a smug smile.
He finishes tying her hair like she wants it, pigtails, and she made him put a pair of pink ribbons on each side. When he's done, he carries Younghee down on the floor and let her wear her own shoes.
"Baba, where are my Iron Man socks?" A little pokes from outside the master's bedroom's door and a little boy is tilting his head to the side.
"Have you asked mommy where it is?" Lu Han asks, walking to meet his little boy, Younghan.
"Mommy is still in the kitchen and you told me I can't go down the stairs alone so I can't ask mommy now." Younghan says, slumping dramatically on the wall.
"Fine. Let's find it, buddy."
"Okay!" He excitedly claps his hands, his eyes turning into crescent shapes, something he got from Miyoung among other things. Lu han takes Younghan's hand to lead him to the twins' bedroom, but not before calling Younghee to follow them.
When the twins are completely dressed up, Lu Han takes their luggage down as the three of them go downstairs, with Younghan holding Younghee's hand firmly so she won't fall. Once they reach the first floor, Younghee lets go of his brother's hand and runs to the kitchen.
"Mommy!" Lu Han has heard her squeal in delight with Miyoung answering in an equally excited "hey~!". When they all reach the kitchen, Miyoung is smiling down at her daughter as she fixes the plates on the table. It's such a beautiful scene that Lu Han cannot resist but take a couple of snapshots. He quickly sets one as his home screen wallpaper.
"What was that for?" Miyoung asks him as they all sit in the table.
"You two look cute so..." Lu Han trails off as he bites into the fried chicken leg.
They decided to eat lunch first before leaving for airport, where they will be taking a connecting flight from Incheon to Hongkong, and then Hongkong to LAX. It's Chuseok, and Lu Han and Miyoung filed a vacation leave to spend the holidays with Miyoung's parentsjust to be fair to them because they spent Christmas at the Lus in Beijing. Miyoung's parents are excited to see them, especially Lu Han and the twins because it's been a while since they last saw them. And just like Lu Han's parents, the Hwangs are excited to see their in-law more than their own child.
"Mom said we have to bring them rice cakes or something like that," Miyoung says, crinkling her nose. "But it might get spoiled during the long flight."
Lu Han shrugs, "maybe we can buy something in LA. There's a Korea Town there, I think."
"Just don't tell them,"she laughs.
Younghan, his face messy with ketchup and crumbs, raises his hand from beside Miyoung, "but isn't that lying, mommy?" Lu Han chuckles.
"Nainai said it is bad to lie! So we should not lie to grandmom and granddad!" Younghee says.
"Well..." Miyoung stares at her husband, asking for help.
Lu Han grins at her before shaking his head at the twins. "It's not lying. But we're not just going to tell them."
"So like keeping secrets?" Younghee asks him, eyes lighting up from the thought.
"Yes, baby. Like keeping secrets."
"Okay! I'm good at keeping secrets! Mommy told me I should not tell you that she orders fries and sundaes from McDonald's every time you're out on overtime. And I never did tell you, baba!"She giggles while Younghan laughs from across his sister.
"Oh, really?" Lu Han looks at Miyoung with an amused smile while she focuses on her chicken. "Yes, baby, I think you're good at keeping secrets."
"See? I told you so!"The innocent little girl exclaims and Miyoung groans.
"Hurry up, okay? We don't want to miss our flight,"she says, still not looking at Lu Han.
"Babe."
"Hm?"
"Do I have to do another lecture about fast food being unhealthy for you and the kids?"
"But---"
"Mommy said it's okay if it's just once!" Younghan interrupts. "And baba, BigMac really tastes so yummy!"
Lu Han's eyes widen. "BigMac?!"
"Yes!"
"Miyoung, you and I need to talk," Lu Han says firmly, and Miyoung just sighs, knowing how Lu Han is so health conscious especially when it comes to her and their twins so she nods, standing up and collecting the dishes.
"No, I'll do that. Just prep the kids." Lu Han stands and takes the empty plates on the sink.
"Is mommy in trouble?" He hears Younghee whisper loudly at his brother who just shrugs.
"Maybe. That's what baba tells me whenever I'm playing Xbox for long."
"Okay, babies, follow me in the living room."
The two quickly run to the couch ahead of Miyoung, leaving her and Lu Han, who's silently doing the dishes, in the kitchen. Miyoung decides to walk to him first and give him a back hug. "Hey."
Lu Han remains silent.
"Don't be mad."
He just huffs.
Miyoung smiles at how cute her husband is, because after five years of being married to him, the man never changed appearance wise, although he got more mentally mature and became a great father figure as the twins grow up. She presses her cheek on his back and hugs him tighter. "Fine, no more McDelivery during weekdays."
Lu Han snorts, drying the last plate and putting it on a shelf before drying his own hands. He then turns around to face Miyoung, wrapping his arms around his wife's slim waist. "Is that the best proposition you can come up with?"
"I can't give up my french fries, Han."
Lu Han laughs, his eyes adoring her. "Alright, then. Only on weekends." He kisses Miyoung's pout away. Miyoung hums against the kiss and he couldn't stop from deepening it some more. She pushes him quickly.
"The twins." She saysbreathlessly, as if that explains everything.
"Right." Lu Han presses his forehead against hers and closes his eyes, calming his thudding heart. Miyoung always does that to him whenever they kiss, or just by simply being close to him. He thinks he is like a teenager being close to his first love.
Miyoung pecks his lips one more time before grabbing his hand and leading him out of the kitchen. She tries to hide the wide grin but fails to do so.
"Mommy, look! Haniee took a cute picture of me using his iPad!" Younghee says, showing her parents the said picture.
"Younghan, if you kept on playing with your iPad, it won't last long for the whole flight," Lu Han says, slinging the little iron man backpack on his son's bag.
"How long is our flight, baba?"
Younghee answers him instead, "mommy said it will take the whole day, Haniee!"
"That's long!" Younghan whines.
"The driver will be here in five minutes. Let's get ready." Miyoung tucks her phone in her jeans' front pocket before fixing Younghee's things. "Are you sure everything we need is here now, Han?"
"Yes, babe. I checked everything when I woke up this morning."
"Good."
They put all the luggage in the trunk of the Sedan once it arrives and gets in, with Miyoung on one side of the window, LuHan in the middle with Younghee on his lap and Younghan on the other side. Lu Han has his one arm around his daughter as the little girl plays with her Barbie doll while his free hand holds Miyoung's.
It's a beautiful day, although rather chilly, and the airport is a little too crowded because of the people going in and out of the country for the holidays. Lu Han pushes the trolley with all their belongings while Miyoung holds the twins in either of her hands. There had been a commotion by the entrance because apparently a Kpop group is there and a lot of fangirls are swarming with their huge cameras to catch a glimpse of their idols. Lu Han has to carry Younghan and Miyoung carried Younghee when a group of girls run past them and bumps on their trolley.
"Aish really. They should just use the VIP entrance to avoid the crowd," Lu Han complains when they got passed all the crazed fans.
Miyoung was about to say something when someone called Lu Han's name. They both look at the person behind them and got surprised upon seeing who it is.
"Sehun," LuHan whispers. Sehun smiles and removes his sunglasses, his hand clutching his hand bag tightly but the two didn't notice. They haven't seen him since he and Lu Han broke up.
"Hi hyung. Hi Miyoung."
"Hi," Miyoung manages to offer him a smile.
Sehun smiles at her. "Long time no see, huh?"
After checking their luggage in, Lu Han and Miyoung, along with the twins, go to talk to Sehun in a coffee shop. Apparently, Sehun left the country a few months after Lu Han ended their relationship and has been staying at London and working as a high school teacher and part time professor at a university there ever since. He just came back in Seoul for the first time in five years, with his parents demanding him to come home for Chuseok.
"I see you're doing well," Lu Han notes the satisfied look in Sehun's face.
"I am good. Anyway, congrats on the kids. I've never said it before."
"Thanks."
"Younghee, Younghan, say hello to uncle Sehun," Miyoung says, and the two quickly put their sandwiches down on the plates and bow at Sehun while smiling.
"Hello, uncle Sehun!" they both say at the same time making Sehun smile at them warmly.
"Uncle Sehun, why is your hair blond? Are you from America?" Younghee asks, her face full of curiosity.
"Mommy is from America but she isn't blond," Younghan butts in.
"But mommy lives in Korea since she's young so maybe it faded."
"Does the hair color fade?"
"Maybe? But my Barbie's does not."
"They are cute. So adorable," Sehun comments as the adults watch the twins interact with each other. "Lu, she's got your eyes. She looks a lot like you."
"Yeah, she's my girl version."
"And your boy looks like Miyoung. Especially when he smiles." Sehun sips on his coffee. "You guys are really lucky to have them."
"Oh, we are." Lu Han replies, his eyes kept on his kids. Miyoung stays silent, proud of the twins for being so bright and adorable.
"How about you? When are you settling down?" Lu Han asks Sehun.
"Well, Jongin and I are pretty much content with what we have right now. Although we are thinking of adopting a child since we can support to do so with our stable jobs. Marriage isn't exactly planned yet but same sex marriage is legal in some parts of Europe so yeah..."
"So you're still with Jongin, huh. That's nice. How is he?"
"He's good. He is studying for his Doctoral degree while working at a Physics department in a university. The pay is really great there. Much higher than mine, to be very honest."
"Why is he not with you now?"
Sehun shrugs, "they won't give him time off. He's really needed in his work."
"That's great for him."
"Yeah."
After a few minutes of catching up, they have to leave for their flight. Sehun waited until they got in, promising to see them again once they are back from the States and if he hasn't gone back to London yet. They said their goodbyes with hugs and waves.
"Lu, I'm so glad we get to meet after a long time. I'm happy for you two. You guys look really content. Blissful, even." Sehun had said to them as they parted.
After the plane took off and everything is settled, Lu Han closes his eyes. Everything seems so perfect right now.
"Hanhan, do you want to watch this movie with me?" Miyoung softly says, not looking at him as she taps something on the tablet while handing him a piece of her earphone.
"Sure."
Once the movie started and the twins are dozing off on each side of them, Miyoung places her head on Lu Han's shoulder with him automatically placing his head on top on hers. He finds her hand and entwines their fingers together, lifting their hands to his lips to kiss Miyoung's knuckles.
Miyoung looks at him with a soft smile. "I don't know why, but I really feel so happy right now. Like everything is---"
"Perfect." Lu Han meets her gaze and smiles back. "Everything is perfect."
She nods. "You know this is something I have never imagined five years ago. I thought I'm going to live with you, us being a married couple but I'd feel lonely. Sad. Because what I feel would remain unrequited. I've never thought anything like this is possible at all."
Lu Han kisses the top of her head before sighing. "It's the same for me. I remember marrying you just for the sake of our company. Who would have thought months later I'd knock you up and fall in love with you?"
"Hm."
Lu Han inhales deeply before continuing. "I have never told you this, but did you know why I started feeling jealous over other guys being with you back then? Or why I couldn't let you go when you wanted divorce? Thinking back, I felt a huge pang in my heart when you said that but I ignored it.Did you know why I constantly worry about you? Or the fact that I always wanted to keep an eye on you?" Lu Han pauses, thumbing Miyoung's wedding ring. "It's because I've been in love with you. I just never realized it then. It took me a shitty conversation with Oh Sehun and two taro bubble teas to realize my feelings for you. I'm in love with you, Miyoung."
Miyoung tries blinking away her tears but a few still manage to escape. Lu Han lifts his free hand up to brush her tear-stained cheeks while grinning. "Was that too sweet? Sorry, I never meant to make you cry for being so cheesy."
Miyoung shakes her head while chuckling, her hands pulling down Lu Han's face so she could kiss him, to which he responds too quickly, as if he was expecting it. It was nothing like how the books describe, no fireworks and such, but it's rather sweet and gentle, full of love and passion shared by two people. It's the best kind of kiss for Miyoung.
"I love you, Lu Han." She says after pulling away.
"I know, babe. And I love you more. Now stop crying. If Younghan sees you, he'll be mad at me again."
She laughs. "Okay. The movie?" Miyoung reminds him, pointing at the screen in front of them.
Lu Han grins, a sly look visible in his doe-eyes. "Nah. I'd rather do this."
He cups Miyoung's face with both of his hands, leaning in closer for another kiss that makes her shiver. It's different from the first one, more heated and fervent, but still filled with love, the kind of kiss Lu Han really, really likes.
Miyoung closes her eyes, one hand on Lu Han's neck, the other gripping on the front of his shirt. She savors the moments, feeling Lu Han's soft lips against hers as she reflects on everything.
Everything, like Lu Han had said, is perfect. They have a happy family, the twins growing up as bright and kind kids and Miyoung thinks she and Lu Han did a great job in raising them. The companies are growing and growing more successfully thanks to their great teamwork, she and Lu Han have stable jobs, and they live in a very nice house. She loves her little family; she could not live without them. Miyoung feels so blessed.
And most importantly, Lu Han loves Miyoung, if not more, like her husband often insisted. Their marriage might have been brought by hidden reasons, but they eventually live it full with love. There is nothing to hide anymore. Miyoung and Lu Han doesn't have to keep any facades because everything is true. Everything is real, and it could not have been more perfect than that.
