We are okay . . .
. . . not so sure about our place in Galveston, however.
We are staying with Amy's mom in Bastrop (just east of Austin) for the time being. We left early Thursday afternoon (after boarding up doors and windows) with our cats and dog, a few changes of clothes, Amy's laptop (which we're currently using at a coffee shop in Bastrop), and tupperware full of paella that Amy made for Jeff's birthday.
When it's declared relatively safe, we will be returning to the island to see what's happened to our townhouse. We dunno when we'll be going back to work, but are worried that we might be expected back before power goes back on since Amy works for the school district and Jeff works for the health district.
