Trying to accomplish what I can, and using lots of little things to build up confidence/motivation to tackle bigger ones.
Mailed a bunch of things this week that I had sitting around for a while
Did a pretty good cleaning of the kitchen, living room, and my bedroom yesterday
Made some salad thing that I can pack for lunches this week
Painted on a bag that I've been meaning to fix up for a long time (it was painted before, with my favorite painting I'd ever painted, but the dog peed on it and it got washed away)
Bought new running shoes to inspire me to go on another longer run- randomly went longer on Saturday and it was lovely
Bought a "Scientific American: Mind" magazine to try and learn some interesting things to talk about when I start up conversations with people like I'm supposed to in order to be impressive and get a job
Took some photos with the camera on manual, messing with the ISO and, you know, other settings
Ordered prints of photos from since I got the camera to put in my scrapbook, to try and get me back into writing in it
Printed out a map of Africa and filled in the country names by hand, in a first step to try and be able to really talk about mosquito control in the field (I need to be able to picture things), which is one of the topics critical to my PhD
Printed out a paper by the guy who is coming to speak this week, so that I can start up a reasonable conversation with him like I'm supposed to in order to be impressive and get a job
Talked to Aubrey on the phone, who I was going to call like a zillion years ago but never did. Also went over to hang with Krijn and Silvie, because I'd not talked to her in ages- they're two of my favorite people ever, and I'm secretly glad that they're probably staying until the end of the year before Krijn starts his new position in Barcelona
Did some paper-hunting and printed some...so I should go and read them...chipping away, slowly, at learning all I need to know...
