Kaidoh stood outside Yagyuu's room with a very nice rapped box and shifted uncomfortably, he hadn't been able to bring himself to knock yet. He was being stupid. He hissed at himself and then knocked.
Yagyuu, who had been sitting in a chair reading, got up at the sound of a knock at the door. Expecting it to be Sanada or one of his room mates he was surprised to see Kaidoh standing outside holding a nicely wrapped box and looking a bit uncomfortable.
"Kaidoh-kun," he greeted, surprised, "Come in."
"Thanks..." Kaidoh mumbled and walked in. He shifted uncomfortably again and then offered the box to Yagyuu, "Happy Birthday Yagyuu-senpai."
Yagyuu looked from the box, to Kaidoh, and back to the box in surprise. He hadn't expected the younger boy to even know when his birthday was, let alone give him a present. Finally taking the present, he looked at Kaidoh, smiling slightly.
"Thank-you, Kaidoh-kun. You didn't have to though..." He trailed off. He was, of course happy that the boy had given him a gift but....
"I know...but I wanted to thank you... for the other day..." Kaidoh looked at his feet like they were the most interesting thing in the world.
Yagyuu sighed, that was as good a reason as any to give a gift.
"Your welcome. And thank you for the gift," he continued, sitting down to examine the gift, wondering what it could be.
"It's nothing too special..." He said quietly and adjusted his bandanna. He'd gotten his senpai a brand new racket and a book he'd heard a lot about.
Yagyuu carefully unwrapped the box, taking care not to tear the paper. Looking into the box, he nearly gasped. Rackets were always useful, especially since his had been getting old, and the book was one he'd been looking for before he'd left. Neither of their prices were cheap, from what he'd seen in magazines and on the internet.
Forgetting to be gentlemanly for a moment, he hugged Kaidoh carefully.
"The gifts are wonderful," He said into the boy's ear.
Kaidoh felt his face flush bright red, "I-I'm glad you like them..." He started to lift his arms to wrap them around his senpai but paused and let them fall back to his sides.
Feeling Kaidoh's hesitation, Yagyuu released him and backed away slightly, ashamed over his brief loss of control.
"I apologize Kaidoh-kun, I don't know what came over me...." He said to explain himself.
"N-No! It's ok--I--" He felt like his face was on fire, he looked down at his feet again, trying to hide his blush. "I didn't mind."
Yagyuu sighed. At least Kaidoh wasn't offended.
Kaidoh stole a glance at Yagyuu, he hadn't seen the gentleman lose his composure like that when he wasn't dressed as Niou.
Straightening up, Yagyuu resumed his gentlemanly facade.
"Would you like some tea or some thing?" He asked politely.
Kaidoh nodded, "Tea would be great, thank you." He hissed quietly, glad that his senpai hadn't seen his blush. "Have you heard of Pandora?" He took a seat on Yagyuu's bed and watched him intently.
"Yes, I believe that's a club, am I right?" Yagyuu asked, taking the electric kettle out of his bag and setting it to boil water, then rummaging through his bag for tea bags and mugs.
"Yeah, it's back in Tokyo. I read online that they're going to have a big party not too long after we get back..." Kaidoh shifted and looked around again, he shouldn't be this nervous, damn it, it was a simple question it shouldn't be this hard, "It says it's a halloween party, i don't know what it's going to be like but...would you maybe..." 'Come on Kaoru get it together', "Would you like to go to the party with me?"
"I'd love to," Yagyuu answered(happily, but not showing it). The water boiled, and Yagyuu went over to pour the water carefully, then handing one mug to Kaidoh.
Kaidoh felt a weird weight lift in his chest and he left out a breath he wasn't aware he'd been holding. "Thanks," he said quietly and waited for the tea to steep.
Yagyuu, sipping on his tea, decided to start some sort of conversation.
"SO, Kaidoh-kun, from where did you get the gifts?" He asked politely.
"Secret." he mumbled, Kaidoh wasn't going to tell his senpai that he'd snuck out of the camp during his run and gone to the town to aquire the gifts. He took a sip of his tea and looked at Yagyuu, "Isn't it hard," he started quietly, "to, you know, be so polite all the time? Don't you ever get tired?" He realized that the question hadn't just been in his head and bowed his head immediately. "I'm sorry! I shouldn't have said that."
"It's alright, Kaidoh-kun," Yagyuu assured, "I suppose I might get tired of it sometimes, but mostly, I find it second nature."
"I wouldn't be able to do it." Kaidoh said truthfully. He was pretty sure being that polite would drive him insane. Kaidoh paused, waiting for Yagyuu to set down his tea and look at him. He liked his senpai, he knew that, but he didn't know how Yagyuu felt. He didn't even know if the boy had an interest in other boys. He didn't seem like the type to, he was probably straighter than a ruler, but Kaidoh wanted to know for sure. If his senpai rejected him it's not like he would lose much, honestly. So why was he shaking? He watched his tea slosh back and forth in the cup and frowned. There would be no better time than now.
Yagyuu, noticing Kaidoh's shaking looked over at the other boy.
"What's wrong, Kaidoh-kun?" He asked worriedly. Hopefully, the younger boy wasn't getting sick or anything...
"I-it's nothing..." He mumbled then bit his lip lightly, he was chickening out. He's not allowed to chicken out, 'I'm Kaidoh Kaoru, I can do this...fshuuu....' He thought angrily at himself. "Actually...senpai....I--" Why wouldn't the words come out?
Yagyuu waited silently for the younger boy to finish his sentence. He seemed to be having trouble with it, so it was probably something personal...
"You don't need to tell me if you don't want," Yagyuu assured, since Kaidoh really did look worried about whatever he was about to say...
"I-it's not--" He growled quietly at himself, it wasn't like him to stumble over his words like this, he knew what he wanted to say and what he wanted to do, fine, if he couldn't say what he wanted he'd go with what always got the point across, he set his tea down on the nightable and gently took Yagyuu's tea from him and placed it next to his own without a word. "Senpai, sorry about this." he said and kissed him.
Yagyuu froze at the feeling of Kaidoh's lips on his own. It wasn't a bad feeling, quite the opposite, but he hadn't been expecting that when Kaidoh had started talking. Still frozen in shock, he felt Kaidoh eventually pull away.
Kaidoh was a light shade of red and he handed Yagyuu's tea back to him before standing up, "I'm sorry, I'll see myself out."
At Kaidoh's words, Yagyuu was suddenly able to move again.
"No, Kaidoh....wait!" He stumbled over his words, loosing his composure completly, he got up and walked over to the departing Kaidoh and hugged him from behind.
Kaidoh froze, "Yagyuu-s-" he wasn't sure what to make of the normally composed man losing his control twice in less than an hour. He reached up and touched Yagyuus arms gently.
Yagyuu sighed. The second time he'd lost control..he must be really tired...Leaning his head against Kaidoh's shoulder, he sighed.
"Kaidoh-kun, I apologize," He started, "I was just so...surprised when you kissed me..." he trailed off in a yawn. He really should go to bed, but first he needed to straighten things out with Kaidoh.
Kaidoh turned in Yagyuus arms so he was facing him and put his hands on the older mans hips, "You should get some sleep senpai." He said quietly and smiled a little. He could see the fatigue in Yagyuus eyes. He hadn't slept well since they got there and the camp was almost over now.
Yagyuu yawned again, "but," he protested, nearly cracking his jaw, "I don't want to kick you out like that..."
He was going to overstep his boundries again, he knew it but it'd worked out in his favor earlier, maybe it would happen again. "I-I don't have to leave..." He moved one hand up slowly to fix Yagyuu's slightly mussed hair.
Yagyuu's eyes opened wide at Kaidoh's words, "But won't you get in trouble?" he asked worriedly, he didn't want the younger boy to get in trouble because of him after all...
"There's still a while until lights out. I'll stay as long as I can."
Yagyuu smiled. If Kaidoh left before lights out, he wouldn't get in trouble.
"Al-" he was interrupted by a yawn, "-right."
Kaidoh nodded and took a step back from Yagyuu so he could do whatever he needed to get ready for bed. He pulled off his bandanna and set it on the nighttable and drank the rest of his tea while he waited.
Yagyuu quickly went to find his pyjamas, shedding his shirt and the pants he'd been wearing as he went. Rummaging through his bag, he pulled out a bra, no, a wig, no, a toothbrush, no, a book, no, and finally came out with a pair of shorts and a large T-shirt. He normally slept in just his boxers, but he doubted Kaidoh would be very comfortable with that. Quickly putting on the clothes he'd pulled out, Yagyuu turned to Kaidoh.
Kaidoh had kept his eyes on him the whole time, quietly sipping his tea and trying to ignore the contents of Yagyuus bag. When he seemed the older boy had finally settled on something he set his, now empty, cup down and stood, gesturing for Yagyuu to lie down first. As he waited he pulled off his Seigaku jacket to reveal a simple black tanktop. It wasn't his preferred sleeping attire, but he was going to have to leave soon and he figured his senpai wouldn't be exactly comfortable with him laying there in just his boxers.
Yagyuu lay down, moving the covers back so that Kaidoh could join him. Perhaps having Kaidoh there might allow him to sleep better.
As soon as Kaidoh was also under the covers, Yagyuu awkwardly moved around a bit to accomodate the other boy. The position he eventually moved into was quite comfortable though, his arms around the other boy and his legs tangled between Kaidoh's.
"Thank you," he said softly.
"For what?" he mumbled back, he hadn't been tired earlier but being curled up with the other boy like this relaxed him and he felt his eyes getting heavy. He absently rubbed Yagyuus hip with his thumb and kissed the boys forehead. Maybe his senpai wasn't the only one who needed the rest.
Relaxing and cuddling up to Kaidoh, Yagyuu laid his head on Kaidoh's chest carefully and closed his eyes, hoping to be able to sleep. The rubbing on his hip was certainly soothing...
Kaidoh closed his eyes, he wasn't a heavy sleeper and he knew he'd wake up as soon as anyone came in, but this would be a comprimising position to be found in. He silently prayed that the person who came in and saw them like this would be anyone except Echizen. Hell, he didn't care if Atobe found them, he didn't have to deal with Atobe on a daily basis. Echizen however....he felt himself slowly falling asleep. Oh well, even if Echizen did find them he'd just bribe him with a months supply of Ponta or something to stay quiet about it.
Kaidoh didn't know how long he'd been asleep but he heard the door open and looked over to see Yagyuu. He blinked and then looked at the Yagyuu who was still asleep in his arms. Ok, he was dreaming right? There weren't two Yagyu--suddenly it dawned on him. Sanada. Rikkai's demon fuku-buchou. He sat up carefully so as not to wake the real Yagyuu.
"What the hell..." Sanada said in his usual tone of voice, "You're the kid who hit me with the snowball...."
Kaidoh stepped out of the bed and made sure his senpai was covered, "Quiet, he's finally sleeping." He said in a hushed voice and put his jacket on, one glance at the clock revealed it was almost lights out and that he needed to leave. "Do NOT wake him up." It was not like him to be rude to a senpai, but he wanted Yagyuu to finally rest. He deserved it.
Yagyuu shifted slightly when Kaidoh's warm presence left the bed, curling in on himself to preserve heat, but not waking up.
Sanada looked at Kaidoh with a raised eyebrow, but didn't argue. He wondered how the boy had managed to get Yagyuu to finally sleep but decided he'd rather not think about it. "Whatever." he said and took off the infernal glasses. He loathed those things.
"And sorry about the snowball." Kaidoh said as he walked out, leaving his bandanna sitting on the night table.
Sanada sighed, put the glasses back on, and followed Kaidoh out, so much for asking Yagyuu a question. Now he just had to hide out until lights out then sneak into Renjis room, it was his last night afterall.
Yagyuu, awoken by the sunlight hitting his face, felt very refreshed. For the first time in about two weeks he'd had a full night's rest. The last night, with Kaidoh confessing to him and helping him get to sleep seemed like a dream...Looking over at the sidetable of his bed, Yagyuu smiled. The last night hadn't been a dream, if the bandana on his side table meant anything. Getting out of bed, he stretched and went quietly over to his bag, careful not to wake the other occupants of the room, who were all still sleeping. It was around 6 AM, so that really was no surprise...Quickly putting his clothes on, Yagyuu grabbed the bandana to tie around his wrist, and slipped out of the room to go on a little jog.
