Inui:
Making his way out of the dorms, Inui couldn't help being a little relieved. Conversation with Hazue was still awkward and tense, but he'd been too worried about Kaidoh to be rude, and the nun at the front desk had been friendly enough. Still, Inui was glad it was over. He let his mind wander as he followed the path towards the school entrance. Yuuta would be meeting him on the way, and he didn't want to keep the younger boy waiting.
Yuuta:
Yuuta kicked a rock laying on the ground, waiting for Inui-san to arrive. He'd been surprised by the request, but Inui-san had always been polite, even kind, to Yuuta. But honestly, Yuuta was curious as to what Inui-san would possibly want with him. He didn't think it had to do with tennis, but he didn't mind if if it did. As long as Inui-san didn't expect him to spill about the training he'd had his team doing, it was okay. He rolled his neck to remove the stiffness from sitting in the pews, and looked up at the sky. Heavy grey clouds... he hoped it didn't rain.
Inui:
Inui spotted Yuuta after a few moments, watching the sky, and noted the dark clouds. It was a good thing he hadn’t planned on running in the evening; the rain looked almost inevitable. Still, he had an umbrella, if worse came to worse, and he’d been looking forward to the afternoon out.
"Yuuta-kun," he greeted as he reached the other, "I’m sorry if you were waiting long. I wasn’t certain how long Hazue-kun would want me to stay ..."
Yuuta:
Yuuta turned, smiling in acknowledgement. "No, not long. It's alright. I think it's good that you came to see him. He's adjusting well to the school and dorms, as far as I can tell, but a familiar face is nice." He looked up at the sky. "If you want to go to that cafe, we should go on now. That way we'll be inside if it decides to rain." He gestured for Inui to lead the way, since he wasn't sure which of the cafes Inui-san had been referring to.
Inui:
"He does seem to be doing well." Inui wasn’t surprised, with how eager Hazue had been to leave, but it was still nice to have confirmation of that. It would ease Kaidoh’s worrying a little, too. "The dorms here are nice, too," he added, still a bit bemused by the fact that Hazue, a first year, had been placed in a single. Yuuta’s reminder evoked a quick nod from Inui, and he set off towards the gates, walking a little faster than before. "A girl in my class tried to drag a few of us to one of those Victorian-themed cafes, but we got lost and ended up next to the station instead."
Yuuta:
"The other first-years seem to look up to him," Yuuta said, easily keeping pace with Inui-san's larger strides. "He takes his drills very seriously, and I think he inspires tem ot do so too. It's... kind of cute, actually." He grinned, knowing "cute" wasn't a good word to use, but it was an appropriate one. "The dorms have been almost completely renovated siince that bit of stupidity from Yanagisawa-sempai and Kisarazu-sempai. The school took the opportunity to make some needed repairs throughout the dorm halls"
He shuddered at the thought of those themed cafes, hoping that this wasn't one of them. "Sounds like an adventure," he said neutrally.
Inui:
Inui chuckled, imagining the look on Hazue’s face if he’d heard that. "Hazue-kun is much more like his brother than either of them will ever admit ... But I’m glad to hear he hasn’t stopped playing." He paused, hoping Yuuta wouldn’t take his question amiss, and then continued. "You’re all doing well then," he asked. The question was purposefully vague; Yuuta could interpret it as referring to his team or the dorms as he pleased.
"Minakawa is a bit of an adventure on her own," Inui agreed, amused. "Thankfully Topaz was nothing like what she was looking for, despite the questionable name. Actually, I was planning on meeting Renji or Tezuka there at some point, but I haven’t had the chance yet."
Yuuta:
"I can see the resemblance, when it comes to tennis," Yuuta agreed. He blinked at the question-that-wasn't-quite-a-question. "Yes, everything's pretty much settled down, everyday is business as usual," he replied, wondering what answer Inui-san had been looking for. He snorted at the mention of Inui-san's classmate. Sounded like a few girls he knew at SeiRu. Then he blinked at the mention of Inui-san's friend from Rikkai... and his former buchou. Yuuta had been keeping up with the journals of his friends, and he'd seen someone's post about Tezuka-san not going to Seigaku, and how upset some of his former team members had been. Suddenly he felt a little sorry for Inui-san, who might not have the chance to ever bring Tezuka-san to this cafe.
"I'm... sorry you haven't been able to," he said, trying to keep his tone conversational. Let Inui-san take it however he wanted.
Inui:
Inui stifled his small smile, strangely gratified by both the concern and the restraint Yuuta showed. "In that case, good luck. It took me almost two semesters to convince Kaidoh that I did know what I was talking about as far as his training menu was concerned. Or that giving his body a chance to recuperate wasn’t a sign of weakness." Remembering, Inui chuckled and shook his head, before turning his attention back to Yuuta.
"Not at all," he returned, taking a side road. "I’m going now, aren’t I?"
