Kabaji could feel the dull throbbing on his wrist. It hurt. It hurt in ways he had never hurt before and that was with the painkiller and the cast. He supposed with how large he was, such painkillers wouldn’t help much anyway. He would hurt no matter what. But if he hurt…it made him wonder about the loud fellow that had come with him. He wasn’t’ the only one to have snapped a wrist today. There was his opponent. Immediately, he felt a strong wash of guilt. His incredible, monstrous strength…it had hurt someone. The guilt started his feet towards the room he knew the other was in. He didn’t know what he would say, if he managed to say anything, but Kabaji needed to know…Needed to see for himself that he hadn’t somehow done irreparable damage.

"AAAAAAAAH!" Taka had yelled as the doctors were putting a cast on his arm. But he closed his eyes and bore with the pain. It was his fault anyway, him being reckless and hitting the Hadokyuu more than necessary. The pain was nothing compared to what he was feeling right now. He had wanted to help the team out. He could at least have held on to the racket just a few seconds more until judgement was passed. He could have won this.

But then again, that guy was something else. How strong can Kabaji be? Also is he ok?

"ARGH!" He howled. Damn, that really hurtsI like a lot of things. I’d had food from a lot of places. I really don’t have a favorite. I like whatever is good that brings people together and makes them smile. That was what he wanted to say. Because that was what he thought. He remembered all the times his family had sat together…and how happy Atobe-sama was, when he had others to eat with instead of always being along in that huge house of his at that massive table. Food brought people together. Made strangers into families for even a little bit. And good food was the best way of doing that. However, he didn’t say that. Instead, there was a painfully long pause and he muttered. “Usu.” Another pregnant pause and then, “I like pizza and gyuudon…and a lot of other things too.” Savoring the rice ball be finally muttered, “though I really like food that brings people together…”

Taka simply smiled. This was too good to be true. Where was this guy all his life? He felt like he found a soulmate in Kabaji and nodded. "I know exactly how you feel, Munehiro." He lifted the rice ball. "I make food not for myself. When I make them, I consider who is going to eat them. I want the person who will eat the food that I make to be happy and satisfied. " He chuckled softly. "I am a little dreamer, huh? But my greatest dream is to become Japan's Number One Sushi Chef. Do you think that's too much?"

The larger boy was surprised when Taka stated his dream. It was a nice dream to have. He had a dream rather like that in a way. It was just harder for him because…well…because he was Atobe-sama’s shadow. He wasn’t supposed to have dreams and ambitions all his own. People would never accept that, even if Atobe did and did what he could to nurture those dreams. “No!” He blurted, a little more passionately than he probably should have. “I don’t think that’s too much at all!! Not at all! I think you will do it. I know you will.” And he would make sure not to try to make sushi any time soon. He didn’t want to vie for that spot at all. There were other foods out there for him to try and learn to make.

"Really?! You think I can make it?" Taka was surprised with the passion in the other boy's voice. He was even more pleasantly surprised by the fact that in the short period of time they shared they had become bosom friends. There was no awkwardness now. Just two friends, talking about dreams and hope. He rather liked it like that.

"Kabaji- kun, what is your dream? I told you mine. Now, I want to hear yours." He was sure by the way that Kabaji answered that the boy was passionate about something.

There were only two people in the entire world that knew what Taka was asking. Only two. And Kabaji was about to make this older boy the third. He still sort of looked away and hid a little. He was well aware that whatever he said, unless it was follow Atobe, he might get ridiculed. Not because he thought Taka would, but because that was what generally happened. “I…what I want…” He shifted and started to fiddle with the light blue of his jersey. “I want to…run a restaurant…where people can come and eat good food and be with the people they love…Or maybe…a television show… Where I could cook something good to share with everyone in Japan….and make something fun project to go with it… and maybe have special guests…” Only with how painfully shy he seemed, a TV show was the last place anyone might imagine him having. Once he was finished, he peeked at the other boy, and tried hard not to chew his lip in silent worry.

When he heard the larger boy's dream Takashi Kawamura fully faced Kabaji with his face lit up. He had a silly ear to ear grin. This was it. Kabaji was the long lost brother he never had. Someone who was equally as passionate as him about cooking, equally powerful and someone who would listen to him talk about this passion and give his own opinion. He had talked about this to the regulars but no one was really wanting to know much about cooking except when it was time to eat it. Fuji, whom he was closest to, usually encouraged him and shows him websites of new recipes but he knew that Fuji could only take so much food talk. But Kabaji, his rival, was the friend he wanted to have or rather needed to have.

He nodded. "Then DO it! I want you to do it! I want you to be my rival and friend in the cooking world as well!" Taka said passionately and loudly making other people stare at him. When he realized that Taka bowed to them and blushed. "And a cooking show! You could call it Kabaji's Kitchen! It would be lovely! What kind of Dishes do you cook?" Taka said with the same enthusiasm but a lower volume.

The loudness didn’t bother him. Nor the spastic nature of Taka’s personality changes. Kabaji was friends with Jirou…who had two speeds. Sleep and spazz. So one or two loud yells in English wouldn’t bother him in the least. He had grown up in England for a little bit. So he could even understand sudden outburst of GREAT and BURNING. “You….do?” He looked to confused by that. Only Atobe really encouraged him like that. His sister just thought he was being cute. “You…..do?” He was sure he sounded like a broken record. But the enthusiasm was easily spread and he was standing straight and all again. He was smiling again and nodding vigorously at the suggestions. Kabaji’s Kitchen…What a wonderful name for a show… “Usu…” Coming closer, he took a breath and murmured. “A lot of things. I like trying all sorts of recipes. I make a lot of things in home ec. I make sweets for Jirou…and I make a lot of other things too. I like to bake the best though. I like it when my house smells like fresh baked anything. Chicken…bread….apples…” He rambled on for a while about all the things he knew how to make and the things he was still learning. And with his copying ability, no chef’s secret would be safe. He didn’t realize how he had rambled on, more words than he had spoken in a month until he had run out of breath and just trailed off, embarrassed.

“Go on!" Takashi nodded and nodded. He would love to taste Kabaji's cooking. The boy seemed to have a lot of skill when it comes to cooking. And seeing Kabaji smile like that was sort of unreal and he liked it. Takashi was in awe when he started talking about baking. Taka's eyes grew wide and sparkled. " You know how to bake? Teach me! Oishi told me he would, but he's so busy. Plus, I don't even have an oven to begin with."

He sighed. He seems to still have a lot to learn. "My skill starts and ends with Japanese food. " He said. "Ne, Kabaji-kun, do you mind if we exchanged e-mail addresses?" He asked hopefully. "Maybe one time we could exchange recipes and stuff... you know..."

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Ryuuzaki -sensei coming. He looked hopefully at Kabaji. "It's okay though if you don’t want to."

He did go on. He didn’t even realize he had said that much until it was too late. But he hadn’t bored the older boy. And even more amazingly, Taka-san had actually listened to ever last word. “Usu.” He muttered. “Usu.” And again. He was more than open to helping the other out with such things. Though if he didn’t have an oven, it might be difficult to learn how. He supposed he could always invite Taka over to his house sometime, but such a request so soon would be far too forward for the shy boy. Instead, he shook his head eagerly at the suggestions and looked forward to doing such things. “Usu…Give me a moment to find a pen.” He wondered around the room and finally found a writing utensil. A moment later, he was back and writing his email address on a small slip of paper. His letters were almost as if they had been copied from a writing book.

Taka waited for the bigger boy to come back. Once he was back, he beamed as he folded the small piece of paper carefully and slipped it into his pocket. He borrowed the pen and got a tiny slip of paper and wrote his own e-mail and his cellphone number in his own messy script. "Here, just in case you want to talk about anything, Kabaji-kun." He said, as he handed the e-mail address to the boy. "I wrote down my number too, just in case."

Kabaji took a look at the paper and carefully put it into the pocket of his regular’s jacket. “….Thank you.” He would try and call but he knew that his silent ways made phone calls very difficult for him. But he would try. Email was going to be much easier, he thought, to begin with at least. Until he was truly comfortable with being in contact with someone who was outside of his immediate group of close friends. “I…I hope you heal soon, Taka-san.” He stated and then shifted a little so that the other’s boy’s coach could come and get him when it was time. He would be waiting for his own. He was sure Atobe-sama wouldn’t let Kantoku to forget about him. Sakaki sensei would come and get him eventually. He would wait patiently until then.

Taka nodded and beamed at Kabaji. "I'm looking forward to mailing you." He stood up and picked up his bag. He took a few steps towards Coach Ryuuzaki who was waiting at the end of the hall. "I'll see you soon, Mune-kun. Feel better!"
As he ran towards Ryuuzaki-sensei, Taka felt elated. He had never been so happy to be injured - especially if that injury led to him finding a new friend. Perhaps now, they had to go back to being rivals, but for the last few moments - and probably the next days. He knew that Kabaji Munehiro will definitely be his friend.
