Who: Marui Bunchi and Oshitari Yuushi
When: August 21, bedtime-ish
Rating: PG
What: Marui and Oshitari decided to deal with their problems chick-style...complete with the pjs, bad movie, and tons of junk food.
Carting a bag full of junk food in one hand and a DVD the other, Marui couldn’t help but wonder why she was being so nice to a guy who drove her crazy…sometimes. Maybe. She didn’t even know, but apparently, he needed cheering up chick-style, and really what was a girl to do? Oshitari did say he would take her to Europe (if he would go through with it, she had no idea), so really, it was the least she could do.
The redhead reached her friend’s room, shifting all of the crap in her hands so she could knock loudly on the door. Extra-impolite just for him.
Oshitari sat on his bed, quite bored. He didn't have to open the door to know who was there. He knew that obnoxious knock. He wondered if he should wait extra long just to piss her off, but figured she had been reasonably civil recently, besides, he might need to cheer her up in a way that only a guy could. Instead of harassing the poor girl, he decided tonight he would in fact be kind...or as kind as he could be. He walked over to the door and opened it, "Welcome to my humble abode."
Marui snorted at Oshitari’s words, “Really? That’s the best you could come up with?” She moved past him to dump the junk food and the DVD on his bed before making herself comfortable as well. Hopefully, he hadn’t been lying about not having sex lately because…. ew.
He laughed, "Hopefully you brought you PJs?" And he popped the dvd into his player. He had what he considered a mini-flat screen dvd player that was quite nice, "Because I intend to get comfortable whether you like it or not."
The cheerleader glanced at her cotton sweatpants and t-shirt combo; you really couldn’t get much comfier than that after all. “I’m comfy enough as it is. Bet you don’t own a pair of sweatpants to save your life though.” Marui couldn’t help but tease as she started digging into the junk food bag and pulling at a box of pocky. Sweets were so, so amazing. “Nice t.v. though.”
"I do actually," He replied, and went off to the bathroom to change into them and deciding not to wear a shirt. He usually slept in his boxers only but figured that'd be a bit too forward for the pretty redhead, "Well, shall we get watching, or do you want to talk out your problems first?" He asked. Oshitari figured the girl wouldn't want to talk about it at all, but he did want to help her and Kirihara. And not just because he wanted to witness a make out scene.
“Mmmm, wasn’t it your problems we were gonna talk about first?” The cheerleader quipped, scooting over to make room for the other tensai and holding out another box of pocky for him. Not that she would ever admit to it, but she was rather curious to know what was eating him alive. And sort of relieved to know that she was still attracted a shirtless guy. Oshitari was more help than he even knew.
Oshitari slicked his fingers into the box and casually nibbled at a pocky, "I love these - they remind me of home," he smiled, "I guess...well, I did something for someone I like and I think I may have messed it up worse or maybe like...part of me should have accepted how it was cause like, I think I may want him for myself in the end."
“Okay so wait…and I’m only guessing here before that was totally not vague at all, but anyways, you pushed him towards someone else or something?” She chomped down another pocky stick as she attempted to understand what the hell was going on. “If that’s the case, then it won’t work out if you made it worse…so he’ll come crawling back to you right?”
"Not exactly I mean I pushed him towards the person he likes, but now I regret it because I'm sure it's going to work out," Oshitari explained, "I guess I shouldn't have involved myself at all, but I didn't grasp how much I liked him until recently..."
“Don’t know what you got til it’s gone…” Marui trailed off, chewing on her sweets thoughtfully. Thing in common number four: their love lives apparently both sucked. “There’s not much you can do now. Wallow; attempt to bring him back with your amazingness or whatever. I dunno.” She mused. “The same gender is almost as confusing as the opposite.”
"Well that was a loaded statement," he responded with a smirk, instantly forgetting swearing to himself to be nice, "Talk to me about it. Or I could always allow you to see if you’re straight using my body," he motioned to his chest.
“You wouldn’t let me even if I wanted to.” The redhead replied just as smug, punching his bare shoulder. “Admit it, you’re to crazy about ‘boy who shall not be named that I threw to other person who cannot be named as well’ to do anything with a perfectly hot girl just sitting on your bed.”
Want to bet?" Oshitari asked smirking, "or are you by chance too obsessed with a certain girl who I won't name?"
"Bring it on chicken." Marui snapped back, turning to face him and pushing her hair behind her shoulders. "She doesn't mean a thing to me."
Oshitari figured that was invite enough and put his hands on the other's shoulders and leaned in slowly to kiss her, but waiting for her to take the initiative.
One second of hesitation later, and Marui’s lips had met Oshitari’s in a slow, lazy kiss. There wasn’t that same passionate fire she had felt when she had kissed Kirihara, but…but…this wasn’t bad to say the least. Just different, and it kind of confused her even more.
Oshitari's eyes widened, he hadn't expected the girl to actually go into a kiss with him, and he parted his lips slightly to allow for the two to begin a tongue battle.
Puzzled as to why in hell the guy she was currently kissing for the second time was still kissing her, Marui parted her own lips, nibbling on playfully on the other teen’s lower lip as she wrapped her arms around his neck. The kiss was kind of awkward, but there was no way she would give up before him.
He pulled back, before her games got to be too much for him to handle, "Well, well, did that help answer any sexuality questions?"
Marui didn’t bother to bite back the smile that crossed her face as Oshitari pulled away. “Chicken.” The redhead simply joked, going back to her sweets like nothing happened. “And it was okay. Just like the kiss with Kirihara.”
Oshitari rolled his eyes, "You and I would never make it as a couple anyway. Tell me the truth, how do you feel about Kirihara?"
“I don’t know.” Marui answered honestly and kind of hating herself for that. She never “didn’t” know or whatever. It was one of the awesome perks of being a genius after all. “Can we just start the movie now?”
"Would you kiss her again?" Oshitari asked trying to push it as far as possible before he'd give a little and let them watch the movie.
Marui threw him a look, nosy asshole. “Why? Are you that eager to watch it pervert?”
“What part of - I like guys don't you get? I've...ugh, whatever, if you don't think I want to help you then fine," He replied impatiently. Why did he even bother being nice to the girl anyway?
Waving a candy bar in his face, the redhead patted his shoulder comfortingly. “Sorry.” She giggled, she wasn’t sorry at all. “Can’t but use some of the things you say against you.” She paused, reconsidering his words. “So wait, is the liking girls thing an act then?”
"Not at all. I like girls too. I like both; I'm pretty much generally attracted to everything. I meant that like, I understand same-sex relationships is all," Oshitari explained rolling his eyes.
“Hey just cause you’re frustrated at the person you let get away and word things crappily, don’t take it out on me.” Marui snapped back; thank god they had decided not to date.
"Sorry," he answered calming himself down a bit.
“It’s okay. Eat.” The cheerleader shoved the chocolate bar from before into his hands and leaned her head on his shoulder. She didn’t mean it to be sexual or anything; she just thought they both needed the comfort right now. “We suck. Geniuses should never be this messed up.”
Oshitari let out a sigh, "There's another thing we agree on," and he plopped some chocolate in his mouth. He took the remote and turned on the Movie.
Marui giggled as she opened a bag of chips. Oshitari’s shoulder was kind of comfy; the redhead might have to remember whenever she was upset in the near future. “Are you ready for the shittiest version of Romeo and Juliet ever?”
Oshitari wrapped an arm around the girl in a friendly way and gently squeezed her shoulder, "I can't imagine there's such a thing as a shitty version of Romeo and Juliet. Shakespeare was a genius...Can they possibly have ruined it -that- badly?"
“Oh just you wait.” She simply said. The opening scenes were filled with Miami gangs spouting off Shakespeare whilst shooting each other with guns called “Swords.” Oh, this was so butchering the legendary playwright.
Oshitari winced, "This is...complete shit."
Marui died laughing at his reaction, crumpling up her now-empty chip bag and tossing it on the floor. They could pick it up later. “Maybe we should screw the movie idea.”
"Sorry...if you want to watch it, I'll try not to go all literary nerd on you, but like..." Oshitari trailed off feeling a bit guilty. She was trying to help him and for the moment hadn't been that bad.
“Baka.” Marui replied with a smile, tugging teasingly on his ear. “I was laughing, not crying. No wonder you like boys, you can’t understand girls.”
He sighed, "I know but I mean, you know, I didn't want you to think that like I was ungrateful. I'm happy you came over and treated me like you always do. You really aren't that bad you know that?"
“Yeah I know.” Marui replied, bumping against him as she leaned on him. “You’re not that bad either. Think we’ll ever figure out our shit?”
"I hope I figure out mine. Otherwise...I'll have to leave this school," Oshitari said softly, "As for you, Kirihara isn't that bad. If you sat down with her seriously, I'm sure you two could talk it out."
“If you leave, who’s room am I going to obnoxiously barge into all the time?” Marui teased gently; she’d never admit it, but she would miss him just a tad. “And really? Do you really think the two of us could ever talk like normal human beings? It is the obnoxious freak we’re talking about here.”
He didn't answer the first part of her question. He had begun to question his judgment and was truly afraid he wouldn't be at Evergreen much longer. As for the second part he said seriously, "Yes. I do. You'd have to treat her with some respect too. She asked me the same thing though, I told her that you could be serious as well."
Marui knew Oshitari was avoiding the subject on purpose, but let him drop it. She had enough shit to worry about it as it was. “Yeah, I can.” But I’d probably end up making out with her instead. went unsaid. “It’s just so weird.”
"It's not wrong though," He said softly, "so don't worry about that shit. Be yourself, have fun."
“It’s not really the gender thing….” Marui trailed off, looking up at the taller teen from where she was resting. “It’s more of a her thing. That baka.”
"You don't want to like her? But you're okay with liking girls in general? What's so bad about her?" Oshitari asked curiously.
“I don’t like her dumbass.” The redhead replied, scooting out of their comfy position to wrap her arms around her knees. This whole situation was dumb, and she was probably giving it far too much thought. One…okay two…. make-out sessions totally didn’t mean a thing. Except that she wanted to do it again. That was the problem. “She’s annoying as hell. Never shuts up and has to go open her damn mouth to tell you of all people. That was a bad idea.” She was smiling though as she mentioned the last part.
Oshitari was familiar with people. He didn't know how he knew but he did know, "You care for her. I'm not making fun of you, but you do. Don't you?"
“Barely know her.” Marui stated matter-of-factly, shrugging her shoulders. “How do you care for someone you barely know?”
"Sometimes you can't help it," Oshitari answered, "besides, you've seen her naked. You've made her run around naked. You've kissed her. And...yeah, I'd say you're just a flowering couple."
“I’ve seen you naked. I’ve kissed you. We fight all the time too, but we’re not about to go off and be all happy relationshippy are we?” She smirked, knowing she had proved her point. “What makes it different huh?”
He shrugged, "Whatever. I don't know why you're so adamant on avoiding your feelings, but I'm not going to help you in that department. Maybe deep down you want me too," he stuck his tongue out at the girl.
“You wish.” She retaliated, sticking her tongue right back at him and nudging his side with her foot. “Too bad you’d fail as a boyfriend.”
"You think so? Want to give it a try for a week or so?" He offered casually. He was kidding, or was he? Sometimes even Yuushi wasn't sure. But, he'd like to hear the redhead's response before he decided.
Curling a strand of hair around her fingers to buy time, Marui studied Oshitari’s face. Bothered by the fact that she couldn’t tell if he was kidding or not, she mulled over his offer in her head. Either way, he could totally end up mocking her. Well fuck. “Dunno.” The redhead replied rather flippantly. “Gonna use me to make him/her jealous?”
He sighed, "No. I'm going to let you see that we don't work in a relationship and you want Kirihara."
“Never said we would work.” The cheerleader replied with a smile, nudging him again. “Hey it’s not fair that you know who I’m having issues with, but you haven’t told me. Don’t cha think?”
"You didn't tell me. I figured it out on my own," Oshitari smirked.
She was tempted to kick him this time, but managed to restrain herself. “Still such an asshole.”
"Kirihara's not a bad person. Really, she'll obey you," Oshitari ignored her, "Clearly she was happy to strip for you and all."
“You never let up do you?” The redhead groaned, glancing at the t.v. The movie was almost three-fourths over, which in hindsight, was probably a good thing. It did suck after all. “Sometimes, it’s better just to let things be.”
"Alright then. Let them be, your loss," he answered., "I can't stand not getting involved."
“Just think you’re a destined match-maker huh?” She bite her lip, wondering if the insult she was about to fire off would get her killed…or worse. “Pity, cause you should have known better than to meddle with person you like and lose them.”
Oshitari didn't answer for a long time, before saying, "I'd rather see him happy with someone else, than depressed with me."
“Have another candy bar.” Was Marui’s simple answer as she dug out another one, placing it in one of his hands and squeezing it reassuringly. “I think we need sugar rushes, Romeo and Juliet to be ridiculous and shoot themselves, and happy thoughts like how awesome I am.”
He nodded, "I could probably use that," and he took a bite from it, "Thanks for all the sugar by the way."
“No problem.” She laughed, leaning against him once more as another high-speed epic Shakespearean car chase occurred. “Just treat me to ice cream again, and we’ll be good I think.”
He kissed her forehead in a sweet friendly way, "Thank you. Really. Don't just be mean to me to get out your own anger okay? Consider -talking- to Kirihara. And don't just make out with her. Actually - use words."
“Oi, you don’t be mean to me either. As much as I so enjoy your bitching….” She teased, wondering if this made them like friends or something. That was weird. “And words? Whatever are those?”
He smiled, "You're a genius, look it up."
“I feel like I should hate you….” Marui bit her lip, wondering what the hell she was doing. “I think we’re like becoming friends or something. Weird that.”
"I wouldn't mind being your friend," He answered with a smile.
Marui looked at him with her mouth gaped wide open, pretending to be shocked. “Like you wouldn’t want to be my friend.”
"Yeah yeah, so I think you're pretty cute. Jeez, woman, take a compliment okay?" He answered.
"Oh and pretty cute automatically means friends?" Marui chided softly, shaking her head. "Stop being so superficial rich boy."
"Alright alright, I enjoy your company, jeez, what are you wanting me to say?" He asked smiling at her.
The redhead cleared her throat dramatically before continuing. “Marui Bunchi, you are the light in my dark tunnel. The sun in my rainy days. The air I breathe. The wind beneath the wings of my private jet. I would die rather than live without your witty ass to talk to. Cheesy shit that’ll make me burst out laughing.”
He rolled his eyes, "Oh please. You only get those lines after I begin dating you," Oshitari replied, "I intend to give whoever I date 5 poems a day. And at least 3 of them have to be shitty romance."
“Won’t he be a lucky guy then or er girl.” Marui rolled her eyes as well before point at the screen excitedly. “Oh look THEY’RE GONNA SHOOT!”
His eyes wandered back to the movie, "Oh boy..." he replied rolling his eyes.
“Ohhhh, look at all that fake blood.” Marui commented before grinning sheepishly. “Sorry it comes with living with two brothers ya know?”
"I guess my wimpiness comes from living with my sister?" He asked.
The movie faded into the credits where Marui supposed, they should have been bawling rather than laughing and still snarking at each other. “Eh, maybe. Or you’re just secretly a chick.”
"You've seen me naked..." Oshitari pointed out.
“Yet you seemed so surprised when I told you I was a girl.” Marui fired back rapidly.
Oshitari smirked, "I never really had a good view. I don't trust my hands."
“And you wonder why people don’t like you.”
Oshitari smiled, "I don't wonder. I just wish I'd thought things through a bit more."
“Some genius you make.” Marui punched him lightly in the shoulder.
"That's the problem - I get high and mighty because of that, but I forget I'm dealing with normal people," Oshitari sighed.
“Cheer up angsty child.” The redhead teased, flicking his cheek as she surveyed the damage they had made from eating so much junk food.
"Buh, how do you eat this much sugar?" Oshitari asked beginning to feel a little sick, "This was fun though. So thanks. I hope the kiss helped clear up some things for you."
“Lots of training.” She winked at him as she slid off the bed, gathering up all the wrappers and her bag. “Try not to cry yourself to sleep kay?”
"Thanks for that," he answered rolling his eyes, "Same to you I guess? Or should I suggest not running off and making out with as many girls as you can find? You might get mono!"
“I don’t cry that easily.” She simply replied, waving as she let herself out and walked back to her dorm. Marui had a lot to think about after all.
"Hey. If you ever want me to be serious again, feel free to stop by," He said and then figured that was enough of a good deed for the day.
