His train of thought was switched to the wrong rail and shot out his left nostril
He was just killing time - then time started fighting back.
He was as busy as a beaver with no arms, legs or desire to work.
He was as busy as a beaver - hard at work building a dam to live in.
The sands of time blew into his face, getting in his eyes and leaving a fine film of grit inside his mouth.
He threw caution into the wind. The wind thought he was playing catch and threw it back. It hit his head hard and he spend several days in bed, recovering from the concussion.
He won the awe, admiration and alliteration of his friends.

To err is human. Not just human, actually. Hamsters, being nearsighted will jump off high places because they figure what they can’t see can’t hurt them. So to err is human and hamster. Come to think of it, every animal has been known to do dumb things - chasing tails, running into trees, etc. So, to err is everything. But that just sounds stupid. I’ll settle for “Everyone fucks up.”
To err is human. To seriously fuck up is idiotic.
He had his work cut out for him, neatly arranged and pasted into place on his desk.
He was cool as a cucumber left out in the desert sun, baking on the scorched, sandy ground.
