Let's stand up for our allies
The recent consecration of Gene Robinson--a gay man living with his partner--as an Archbishop in the US has been met with a great deal of controversy. Most recently, some Episcopalians in Florida are withholding financial support for some missionary work--which doesn't, by the way, proselytize.
http://www.ourlittleroses.org/ is one such program. It offers shelter and education to girls in Honduras. OLR has been getting letters of complaint about same-sex issues, rather than cheques. And I think that sucks.
I believe that we need to support those who are sticking their necks out for us. And we need to show that our commitment to queer rights is to human rights overall. These girls deserve safety, food, love and education. If we each make a small donation--and circluate this widely--they will get them.
