Okay, so you know how I've had Scrubs on the brain recently? As in, I binge-bought all six seasons in the timespan of, like, three days. (And then proceeded to binge-watch all six seasons in the timespan of, like, three weeks.) As in, walking through the local hospital to catch the shuttle to the imaging research center and seeing all of the people dressed in scrubs and white lab coats never fails to fill me with glee and absolutely make my day. (Seriously, I've been through this hospital about once a week for the past three months. You'd think it would get old, but it just doesn't!)
Anyway, I was going into lab today, and--no joke--walking through the cafe on the first floor, I passed a guy wearing a white lab coat with a stethoscope hanging around his neck and a girl in bright blue scrubs. In my non-medical-research building on a Sunday. And, dude, it wasn't even like the cafe was open or that we're anywhere near even the medical school, let alone a hospital, so I have no idea what they were doing there...unless I've finally snapped and have started hallucinating things, but I don't think that's the case; otherwise there definitely would have been pirates involved, too. But anyway, I amused myself on the elevator ride up to my lab by picturing an alternate universe where there's a sitcom about graduate students in science, and then the medical interns would be excited to walk through research labs and see actual grad students doing actual science research. How awesome would that be? Now if only we could figure out a way to extract comedy from grad school...
