"I'm sorry."

A lot of times, I would say "I'm sorry" to someone, and they would tell me it's not my fault. In fact, I do it, too, and I think it's an intrinsic reaction.

I mean, to me, that phrase means that I feel sorry for the situation someone is in, not that I'm apologizing because it's my fault. Yeah, the latter does happen, but more often than not, it's the former, so it's a bit amusing when people tell me it's not my fault when my words held no hint of such anyway.
