subject lines are like the bane of my life. :(

So yesterday I was up for 23 hours because I needed to buy foods since I had no food left in the house and all the shops are closed on December 25. :( Not that I meant to - I've been trying to get onto a diurnal schedule for years now, but um I ended up reading the hanfu forum on baidu for the whole night. Obviously my priorities have shifted. -_- Hopefully today I will manage to get up at a reasonable time because I am planning on cooking lots of foods and also making 海带炖排骨/seaweed and rib stew (which Google informs me is a very common dish). It is one of my favourite warm winter foods and very delicious as well, and it's to me what chicken soup is to many Americans. Of course this is assuming I don't destroy my knife or the cutting board while attempting to hack the ribs into pieces. :( Also, not having a high-pressure cooker just makes my cooking life so much sadder and harder. I can't wait to go back to China.

I did manage to get to the shops in city centre, despite the snow. The crowds weren't as bad as I thought! But then, I mainly hung out at the market and the supermarkets and not any department stores or posh independent places. :3 Alas, the repair of my boots (there's a basically a clean crack in the soles D:) will have to wait until later. :3 I also managed to take a number of photos of Leeds (mostly the uni and stuffs) - unfortunately there will be no photos of Christmas lights because uh I am usually a. not in city centre after dark and b. carrying so many groceries that I might collapse at any moment. I seriously think that I buy like at least 10 kg of stuff every time I go to city centre. -_- (Like today, I bought 30 satsumas for £1. Almost bought three huge bunches of bananas for £1 again, but I managed to convince myself that um 30 satsumas will be more than enough for a while. I nearly bought 4 pints of milk as well - only didn't because I realized that I'd probably actually just collapse on the street while walking.) My shoulders are painful every time after I come back from city centre on a food trip. :( I'm also not sure how I manage to spend four hours buying food, but I do...

I bought a package of 20 pork and garlic chive dumplings for £3. The prices here make me weep. I unfortunately missed 冬至/the winter solstice (which occurred on December 22) because I would have collapsed if I had tried to buy anything on that day after returning from Sheffield, so I made up for it today with dumplings. They were quite omful, only they were so small that uh a reasonable price imo is at most £1.50. My lyphe.

Thanks to blackjackrocket, munster85, tyreling, skund, and lil_blossom for your cards (and lil_blossom for your gift - you are too kind)! Some of mine will be late, sorry! :( I am also contemplating making a deadbeat list...Yes, I am this petty. In any case, happy *insert occasion*! Hopefully everyone enjoys themselves wherever they are/whatever they are doing~ It won't be a special day for me tomorrow - I just look forward to sleeping and eating good foods. The lunar new year, on the other hand...:]

not the same in the west, thanks, rl, cooking, i love food, it's another holiday
