Chanology&Civil Rights

So I missed the Ides of March because I woke up around two. I really wish I could motivate myself to engage in forms of civil disobedience and subversion. :| (Especially since cake was had! >_>)

But the big news this time is that two anon were arrested in DeKalb, Georgia for...no good reason. Protesting without a permit is one of the charges...except anon contacted DeKalb beforehand and was told that no permit would be needed. Here's the Digg post on the arrest video. Much wtfery.

Additionally, motorists who honked in support of the protest were pulled over and given tickets. WTF? A video from one of those motorists. Improper use of horn? Except there's precedent for courts supporting people honking their horns in response to signs, so.

Anyway, apparently there is precedent in DeKalb with two vegan protesters arrested on false charges. Oh, and the police chief? Involved in a scandal in DFW around 2000 about planting fake drugs on day laborers and car mechanics. The name sounded familiar to me as I was going through the stuff, but when I hit the Dallas Observer article, I remembered this being on the news all the time. Not a good man, and I don't trust him at all.

Yeah, I believe that Bolton is working with Co$ in DeKalb because that shit should not have gone down. That's a clear abuse of power. I've been concerned with censorship in the States ever since I learned that Bush protesters were fenced off far away whenever he went to visit a place. How is that effective at all? Protesting is one of the most important ways for citizens to dissent, and without that, an essential civil right (and source of power) is lost.

I am wary, but I really want to participate in Operation Reconnect now (April 12). I'm worried about not having a mask and about other forms of disguising my face not being enough, but well. I'm willing to risk it for this cause, especially since we seem to have gone through well so far.

eta: Firefox thinks CoS is misspelled but not Co$. lulz.
