Having ensured that Timothy would be all right for the remainder of the night, Alfred began the short walk back to his assigned living quarters. Once he reached them, he dropped of the medical supplies that he'd bought for Timothy before leaving the house once more. As he approached the building that Bruce had been recovering in earlier, Alfred kept slightly to the shadows, not wanting to draw any unwanted attention to himself ( ... )

Bruce wordlessly continues packing, and though his back is turned to Alfred, there's the slightest hint of a smile. Even though it had only been a few months, he only just realized how much he missed and needed Alfred's support. Little did he know how long it had been for the other man since he had seen him.

"No, Alfred," Bruce replied firmly, but fondly. They were back to the same routine of butting heads already. There was something comforting about that. "I'm fine." There's a long pause and he continues with the packing until he speaks again.

"It's good to see you."

That was, naturally, the expected response. It was rather relieving to have this sort of disagreement again, even if it was a tad annoying as well.

"Of course, sir. As expected." Alfred moved further into the room, closing the door behind himself. It was more out of habit than anything else. That and the knowledge that Bruce would prefer to relocate without calling others attention to it. Not that there seemed to be any other occupants in the building, but that was not how Bruce would see it.

"It's most pleasant to see you as well, Master Bruce." Alfred paused briefly before continuing. "Especially considering the currant circumstances back home. I'm relieved that you appear to be doing well here."

It wasn't something that he liked to think about often - who would - but it was unavoidable with the man who had been declared dead standing here, talking to him as though nothing were wrong. As if nothing had been broken and that they could, perhaps be a family again.

"I don't know what happens," he admits coldly, looking up, but continuing to keep busy with his hands by packing. Still, it implies that he knows that something happens, just not what. It helps to keep his mind off of it. "But the less I know about the future, the better."
