[ karolina's lying on a beach towel, putting sunscreen on her face. come bother her. ]

What is that you're putting on your face?

It's called sunblock.

[ she reaches out and swipes some of it onto his cheekbones. ]

It keeps the sun from burning your face.

You want to block the sun?

[ His face scrunches up at the smell as he half-heartedly rubs at his face. He sends her a skeptical look. ]

Jasmine or olive oil does that. Not the olive oil you cook with.

I don't think a lot of people out there use that anymore.

[ she holds out the bottle to him. ]

[ He reluctantly takes the bottle and reads it over before putting some on ]

It feels like I am never going to catch up with the science in this world.

[ technology man. she watches him put it on, smoothing away some of the excess when necessary. ]

[ He finishes up with the lotion and passes it over. ]

[ admittedly, the things that baffle her are different than what baffles him, but her point still stands. ]

[ Zuko nods, taking the answer for what it is. He looks over the beach. ]

I know this is a beach but it's different in how it looks and feels from the beaches in my world.

[Tommy waits for her to be on her own before he plonks himself next to her. He's not exactly dressed for the beach, and probably shouldn't be out in the sun without sunblock with his complexion, but he looks like something is on his mind. And without anyone else to talk to about it, Karolina will have to do. He glances at her, and forces a smile.]

You got a little sunblock on your... [He reaches up and smudges the white mark along her cheek]

[ he looks a little...off. karolina can tell. in any case, she smiles at him, swipes at the sunblock on her cheek and then wipes it on him. ]

Tommy, did you put any on yet?

[crotcharrow]

[Tommy frowns when she rubs his face, and moves to swat her hand away ineffectually, and rubs in the sunblock instead.]

Nope. Not exactly here to sunbathe.

Let me put a little on you anyway.

[ don't even argue with her tommy. woman on a mission here. ]

Are you going to swim?

[He sighs heavily, but knows there's no beating her. He snorts when she suggests the swimming. He's not even wearing normal shorts, let along swim trunks.]

Nope, I think I'm good.

[ hrm. she's quiet for a moment, rubbing sunblock on him, then shifts, sitting upright and brushing her hair out of her face. ]

Is everything okay?
