WHO: Tom, Roberto, and Johnny WHAT: Roberto and Johnny try to show Tom how to pick up ladies. YOU CAN IMAGINE HOW THIS WILL END. WHERE: Seattle WHEN: evening WARNINGS: everything.
At least in Roberto's mind they couldn't steer poor Tom wrong. Clubs like this were what he considered fun and casual; people got trashed and acted any way they wanted to and no one could really judge since they were doing the exact same thing! Besides, most chicks only came to places like this to catch a guy's attention, right? They'd find Tom a cutie in no time.
And even though Roberto himself wasn't looking to pick up, he was still dressed his best. What was the sense in looking like he was slumming? That just wasn't how he rolled! "Well, this place is packed! And hot."
Roberto moved his gaze across the crowd of people heading inside, and grinned over at Tom. "You're going to love this."
Tom did as he was told, though it was slightly bewildering. He undid the first two buttons of his shirt, forcing a wobbly smile. He knew that he stuck out like a sore thumb---people kept asking him if he was a Mormon, and telling them that no, he was a mutant just seemed to insult them---but Johnny and Roberto would set him right. This type of place was their stomping ground. He was confident in that.
"I'm a little nervous, that's all," he confessed, not sure where to look. He was half afraid he'd look too long at one of those under-dressed gals and get himself slapped for being fresh.
Of course, the idea of meeting a woman at the bar and going home with her had never crossed Tom's mind. He thought that he'd meet some girls, dance with them (maybe), and then meet them for a proper date somewhere down the line. Nobody had told him otherwise.
So he followed Johnny and Roberto, having to wriggle his way through the crowd. There were too many people, it felt like, and too few clothes. He had to figure that it was hot in there, like Roberto had said.
"Thank you, fellas," he said. "For taking me out like this and showing me the ropes."
"Think nothing of it. If you're gonna be stuck in this time, you may as well enjoy it. That's the way I see things," Roberto commented, and leaned against the bar when they got there. If Johnny grabbed the first round, he'd do the next. It was only fair!
A group of women in very tiny skirts walked by, and Roberto eyed them. "It's a little hard not to enjoy it."
Tom was going to end up having a blast, mãe do deus.
Tom had never seen skirts that short. At least, not skirts that tried to still pass themselves off as skirts. Panties covered more than those skirts did, and they were wearing them in public! He took his shot automatically, the burn a welcome distraction from his rabbity, anxious thoughts.
"Well," Tom said, and then "Well," again. "They...all seem like real nice girls to me."

"We'll getcha a couple of shots and then you won't be feeling a thing. Besides? What's so nerve wrecking about good tunes and an even better crowd?"
Really. Roberto trusted this would just go as smooth as a baby's bottom.

He wasn't even sure what he was supposed to like.
