[ there is only so much group mingling and social interaction that Nico can take before she has had her fill. She's lost her taste for parties where people know her and want to talk, so it doesn't take long before she's eying the exits.

She sees Chase and the corner he has staked out, so she decides to come over and join him. That way, she won't get chided for being a party pooper. Besides, she gothed up nice and leaving early would be a waste of carefully applied eye makeup. ]
