Aang just wanted to get something to eat. The bright lights and sounds of the party might have drawn him in on any other day, but after the surprise of his 'gift' that morning he'd been less than inclined to have any fun.
He'd spent most of the day pacing the hotel room, trying to breathe, to bend, to settle his mind from the turmoil of that long buried memory now unearthed.
With the necklace that had turned his head on backwards tucked safely in a pocket he had ventured down to the hotel room and made it into the ballroom, to the snack table, and out again with a bowl of fruit. He would have managed to get in and out without incident if it weren't for his almost walking into Katara in the hall.
