WHO: iron_liver and behisgirlfriday
WHAT: Pepper needs some time away to process everything. Who else would she call, really?
WHEN: The day after Pepper's run-in with Mr. Wayne
WHERE: The Willows, Seattle
WARNINGS: None foreseeable

She didn't pack everything. She could have easily, considering that she didn't have much to her name, despite having been in Seattle for five months. Pepper wasn't much of a pack rat, so she lived her life with only the essentials. (Shoes were always one of the essentials. Ask any woman.) She could have boxed it all up and made a clean break from Seattle, leaving her room for Diana and whoever else might drop in through the dimension-punching machine.

She didn't, though, and not only because it would have been difficult to fit all of her shoes in one box. Pepper left most of her things in the Willows because she had to be sure of her decision before she cut all of her ties. There were people in Seattle that she truly cared for, but she didn't want to live with the shadow of the Bat spilling over her shoulder.

Pepper waited for Tony outside, feeling bizarrely like a grade school girl who'd called for a parent to pick her up. I don't like it here. Take me home?
