WHO: Max Lord and Maxine Lord. WHAT: Lunch! WHERE: The 5 Spot, Seattle. WHEN: Yesterday afternoon. WARNINGS: Two Max Lords in one place at one time. In short... massive amounts of ego?
Max had taken a seat in a booth midway into the restaurant, not plain in view but visible enough that Grace would be able to find him. He had to be somewhere he could see the door; he had a faint idea of what she looked like from the small screen of the phones, but he had never once used video on the network.
He sipped his coffee, watching the door carefully and holding his menu, prepared to slip behind it in the event a familiar face walked through the door.
Maxine stepped in the door, glancing around at the patrons. If he hadn't beat her to the place, she'd get a table, but she wasn't quite sure. At any rate, if he was here, he'd undoubtedly make himself known somehow.
Max sipped his coffee and looked back to the door. Ah... was that her? It was hard to judge given how small the screens on the phones were, but the haircut and line of her jaw struck him as familiar all the same.
He raised a hand up, gesturing to his table. "Grace Knight?"
Ah, so he did beat her there. She smiled a little and headed over to the table where he was sitting, glancing briefly at him as she did so. "That would be me. I suppose that makes you Michael?"
"I suppose it does," he said, folding his menu closed and looking at her. She was certainly attractive, in a familiar sort of way. He couldn't quite pinpoint it, but it wasn't of much importance.
She sat across from him, smiling slightly. "Definitely more hospitable in general than New York, in this reality at least. So basically no complaints."
"Oh, I'm hardly saying it wasn't." She smiled a bit, taking a sip of her coffee. "And I'm certainly also curious. And highly suspect that we're very alike."
She smiled sweetly. "I'd say more a case of like recognizing like. Although I had the advantage of recognizing the possibility." She leaned back slightly in her seat. "Let's just say that Darcy Dent was not the first arrival from that particular universe."
He sipped his coffee, watching the door carefully and holding his menu, prepared to slip behind it in the event a familiar face walked through the door.

She flags a busboy down to get some coffee of her own. "So was there a particular reason for the invite?"

"Is that so? Interesting choice of wording." He bared his teeth slightly in a slight sneer. "Instinct?"

So he sipped his coffee.
"So." A pause. "Are you telling me your name isn't Grace?"

She paused. "Although if that's the namesake I think it might be, isn't that rather tacky?"
