WHO: bat-spawn and OPEN WHAT: Damian's restless; starts on a new project WHERE: Seattle, around the Willows WHEN: Afternoon, before this WARNINGS: None
Kara had swung by the Willows to see if Dinah was in. She didn't have any particular reason in doing so, she just wanted to see if the older woman was available to talk. When she didn't find her, she turned her attention to the motorcycle that was being disassembled in the parking lot.
"Hey," she called out. "That's a pretty nice bike."
"I learned a number of things while living with my mother's family," Damian said, since saying I had engineering training pumped into my learning tube in public wasn't a great way to maintain a secret identity.
Dani nodded and walked over to watch him work for a bit. "Not that much but I've done some mechanical work before," she answered. On an X-Jet. she added mentally.
"Seems like you're going to need a whole other bike to take apart."
"Yes," Damian said. He wiped his forehead with the sleeve of his shirt, accidentally leaving a smudge of grease on his temple. "The frame is sturdy, though, and it's a good size. I can buy parts for less than the cost of a whole bike. And unless my uncle stops lazing around and gets himself a decent job, I can't afford to buy a bike new."
There was only so much information that Dean could get from hanging out in the bars. With that in mind he had decided to spend the day walking around Seattle, keeping an eye open for anything suspicious. After all, he didn't have much time left to be spent here. They should probably move on to Manhattan soon, as long as things were in working order here.
Dean paused when he noticed some kid working on a bike in one of the parking lots. It was kind of impressive actually. The kid seemed to have a pretty good handle on what he was doing. Dean hadn't really worked much on bikes himself, but he had something of a general idea. "Hey." He walked over to the kid and knelt down to get a better look at the bike. "You're pretty good at this." He offered the kid a smile. "Bet you had a pretty good teacher."
"Okay then." Dean didn't even try to keep the amusement off his face as he raised his hands in mock surrender. "Sorry about that, kid. Don't think I've ever met a ten year old quite as, uh, you know, independent as you seem to be." Aside from himself and Sammy, but that wasn't really worth mentioning. This kid looked a little rough around the edges and his social skills could obviously use some work, but he didn't seem all that bad.
"Man. Are all the people in this city itching for a fight or what?" It was a general question and not really directed at the kid. Dean frowned thoughtfully before turning his attention back to the boy. "So where'd you get the bike?"
