Aang was at the spot they had chosen early, hauling along a blanket, a basket of snacks, and a bundle of raw nerves in the shape of a man.
He'd taken his time considering before contacting his younger self again, retreating from interaction with the others, not wanting to intrude on their reconnection with the young man they remembered rather than injecting his own strange dichotomy into their lives. Meditation, constant in all bending practices, had been his solace for not the first time. However, after many long years of relying on Firebending meditation practices that focused on internal control and chakra maintenance, he emerged from his usual candle-lit room and tried to find the peace and quiet to concentrate and empty his mind out in the sun and the wind. It had worked remarkably well, and he'd continued for days to venture out to meditate in nature, at first considering, then steeling himself for executing the decision he had made.
When he'd finally contacted the young Avatar again he hadn't been able to voice his request over the awkward little telephone line - the disconnection of 'digital' contact still made him feel insincere and uncomfortable - so he'd managed instead to ask if the younger Aang would meet him in person so that they could talk face to face.
Settled in the lotus pose on the blanket he found that he still wasn't quite prepared for seeing his younger self in the flesh. All his focus was shot the second the young Aang came into view at the edge of the grass. Had he ever really looked that young, that... light?
He raised a hand to wave hello, gathering himself off the blanket to bow respectfully.
"Avatar. Thank you for coming to meet me."
