perhaps in the future tv historians will point to the show and say, "how far-sighted." to me (never seen the show) it sounds like a scheme to chalk up some karma points without actually any substantive change. but thats my critique for everything.

but there might be a backlash. think about the role of women in earlier tv shows like Leave it to Beaver and so forth. domestic. 15 or so years later a grand social movement was undertaken in opposition to that archetype.

my prediction: there will be a backlash against women in politics and our country will elect mostly men into power, and instead of openly gay male secretaries most office assistants will be women valued for their typing and looks over their intellect.

that is indeed frightening. women haven't even been elected as president and already the country is creating a simulacrum to create a backlash before it even happens.
