we are: cattle. we are: great.

I walk up 16th street after hopping from one bus to another and on said street there is about a half a block of sidewalk that is covered by a huge grate. Or many grates patching into one another like industrial robot-sewn quilts.

I watch people every day go completely out of their way to go around the grate. It is quite a detour.

So I have come to realize that we are nothing more than bovines and we are still weary of meshed coverings that may or may not reveal a perilous death below. Who knows if it'll hold?

And yet we take elevators to the 30th floor of buildings, walk on glass, drive cars at 100 miles per hour, and have faith in basically every other built technology.

We are a bright species.
