Immortality has you guessing.

Salamander orange lilies twist their necks
to face the sun drenched clouds
Sidewalks curve toward waves
heat breaking free, rising from the pavement
Rocks tumble off these unforgiving curbs
to a world in which the ladies speak another language
Taking a stroll along the tightrope to foreordination
veteran sneakers protect their young
With a pocket full of bottle caps
and a chest full of gold
A dirty oak shadow box tucked away
full of imaginary friends and fantastic places
Rusted, rattling hard and unburdened by a heavy load
red radio flyer is hot at your heels
Green stained and scabbed knees cross their fingers
in high hopes for a day of ease
Beads of sweat dance and roll
down bubble gum pink cheeks
Cracked lips, licked, start to sing
the crickets song of love and desperation
This blazing star sits a ship-wreak
on the arm of the golden glazed countryside
Sleepy glories hang their heads
turning into themselves, a sanctuary
As these UFO lights compose a symphony
through the naked black sky
Innocent, uneducated hands cross their fingers
longing for one more adventure
