So I don't know about anyone else, but I think dreams are awesome. Unless we're talking about minute details, I will totally disagree with anyone who claims something in their dream "didn't mean anything." Dreams are your subconscious going *wink wink, nudge nudge* or in the case of nightmares like the one I had last night, they're more like your subconscious going, "DUDE, I'VE GOT SOME IMPORTANT SHIT TO TELL YA. LISTEN UP."
It was one of those nightmares where I kept waking myself up, and I tried to calm myself down before going back to sleep, but once my head hit the pillow the nightmare picked right back up again. It was... weird. I woke up around 6:00 AM and wrote most of it down, with no idea what it meant, didn't look at it again until just now, and the moment I read the words I knew exactly what it meant. I love that, how getting distance from the literal makes the connections all too obvious.
What I really wanted to write about, though, is the idea that if you're being chased by something in a dream, or danger is about to strike, you should stop running and face it, ask whoever it is why they are chasing you. I knew this, and thought about it every time I woke up last night. But every time I found myself back in the dream, I was too scared. I actually hope I have a nightmare tonight too, so I can try again.
