"What do you mean you lost our papers?"
Cata shrugs; she'd been expecting the firsties to protest, but this one in particular made a point of hanging around after class. "I lost them," she says, not bothering to mention that she half did so on purpose.
"But... I've seen your office, you keep it organised--"
"I still lost them. You need the extra practice anyway. Now get on your way before I make you write an extra one."
The firstie storms off, but before Cata can leave the classroom, Sam pokes his head in. "You lost those assignments on purpose, didn't you?"
"I might have. Didn't know you were in town."
"For a while." Sam eyes her for a few moments. "And why do you look like the cat that ate the small village? It can't only be because you're annoying your students."
"It's a long story," Cata says, letting the self-satisfied smirk that hasn't left her face all day grow. "There was a Milliways thing. There were sausages involved."
"...Sausages."
"Sausages that infect people, apparently. But it turned out all right in the end."
Sam makes a few odd faces. "I... see," he finally says, and mutters something about gnomes that Cata decides not to ask about. "I don't have to go threatening anyone, do I?"
"Please. As though I couldn't see to it if something went wrong."
But she lets Sam drag her down to lunch and grill her on the matter anyway.
