Molly was standing at the sink watching the dish towel dry the dishes she'd just finished washing. It had been months since there'd been more then four dinner plates. Even those days were sparadic punctuation in seemingly endless days of only two plates. She was meloncholy and her shoulders slumpped a bit as she sighed.
Arthur noticed the saddness in her body language. Slowly he stood from the table where he'd been thumbing through the most recent Quibbler and walked over to where Molly stood. Without a word, he pushed her red flowing hair off the back of her neck and began to lace her collar with gentle kisses.
Molly's sigh transfered from one of sadness to one of resigned duty. She wasn't in the mood, but she knew Arthur well enough to know that he was simply responding to the body language she exhibited. Language that said she was feeling worthless and unloved. Not so much because of anything Arthur did or didn't do, but because she simply felt her children didn't need her anymore. She had been a mother so long that now she would need to take the time to relearn how to simply be a woman.
In this task, Arthur was more than willing to help. He slid his hands around her waist and pulled her against him. There was no need to talk, they knew each other well enough that the touch of the other conveyed everything they needed to communicate.
Molly turned in his arms. Placing her arms around his neck, she pulled him in for a gentle kiss. Pulling back, she ran her hand along his cheek while her eyes explored his.
Reaching down, Arthur took her by the hand and led Molly up the stairs to their bedroom. With the way she'd ranted and raved after her experience with George and Katie, he knew better than to ruin the moment by trying to have it anywhere but in the sanctity of their room.
