"Because you're the one who keeps us all in line, love." Draco kissed her forehead, laying a line across it from temple to temple. "If it weren't for you, there'd be chaos and madness. You and your tiny little iron fists." Under the cloak, Draco took her hand and stroked his thumb over her knuckles. "Don't mind if you rule my roost a little. I like letting you have your way. Even if it does mean I can't amuse myself with shocks on my cloak." He chuckled and kissed her temple again before straightening up and tucking a loose tendril behind her ear. "That's them. We don't have to be so formal in public. Wouldn't want to be, either. Letting people know how I feel about you? I'm not going to hide that. Not going to be trying to swallow your face in public, because I frankly find that disgusting, but I won't hide."

He nestled her arm in his again as they walked, their cloaks brushing together. "I'd prefer a darker finish myself. It looks more elegant." He grinned and glanced at her out of the corner of his eye. "Looks richer." It couldn't come as a surprise to anyone on earth that he preferred his surroundings to be refined. Surroundings, wardrobe, even his quills. He had the money, and had no qualms about spending it on quality. "So that's the bookcases and the desk taken care of, then. What about your chair? I like the one you use at work, but I agree, you need something a little smaller." She wasn't ridiculously tiny, but she was smaller than him. He liked that. It wasn't often he could feel physically protective of someone.

Hermione laugh shocked a small animal and sent it scurrying across the path too fast for her to identify what it had been. "Thank heavens for that. I don't mind a light kiss here and there, but I'm definitely not comfortable with huge public displays." Ron and Lavender had made her incredibly uncomfortable. It wasn't just because she still fancied Ron at the time, or because she couldn't see how someone who wanted something like that could ever be happy with someone like her, but because she felt that sort of thing belonged in private.

"I agree. I prefer darker woods myself. It's not considered especially feminine but I don't care. I'd rather have what I like than be worried about meeting someone else's ideas of what women should like in interior design." Hermione considered, "I don't know about the chair. I like the one I use at Harry's. Maybe he'd be willing to make a present of it. It isn't as if Grimmauld Place isn't full of old furniture and other chairs. I suppose I could describe it to Cookoo and she could see if there's a similar one in storage at Malfoy Manor your mother wouldn't mind parting with. The only problem there is she might want to know why we're asking for it." If he wasn't ready to break the news they were planning to live together, it could be a problem for him.

Draco shook his head. "Same here. I've never liked that much. Crabbe used to rib me for it. Said I'd blush if Pa-- if I even got a wink when I wasn't expecting it." He shrugged, the tips of his ears heating. "Just think people should keep that sort of thing to themselves. Don't particularly care what a bloke gets up to with his girl, or with his bloke for that matter, but it should be private. Leaving it out for everyone to see makes it more about showing off than about the relationship itself. Of course, that's all some people want." He rolled his eyes and gave her a smile. "Not what I want."

He held his breath for a moment, then exhaled slowly and rubbed his forehead. "I'm sure there'd be something she'd be willing to share. Mum's ... a lot more accepting of a lot of things about us than I'd have thought." He hunched his shoulders into his cloak and stared at the stars. "Suppose I should tell her, right? Before she shows up and you answer the door in your jammies." Especially considering what Hermione usually wore to sleep in - or didn't, which the more worrying thought.

"I don't want to share you with anyone else. Even if it's only a view. I'll have to test that wink theory, though," she teased. Another strong gust of wind whipped a tendril of her hair into his face. "Sorry," Hermione said as she adjusted the hood of her cloak to cover her hair. She might have it pinned up but the curls she'd left loose were only going to tangle if blown about.

"Draco, I think you should tell her simply because this is an important step and I think she would be hurt not to know beforehand. That's why I told my parents already. It's also why I told Harry." She didn't want Harry to find out as she was packing up her things. "I wouldn't answer the door in nothing but your shirt or pyjamas. I'd go dress while Cookoo got the door, silly. Just like you would, I suspect." Draco didn't like exposing his scar to public view, even if he didn't fuss over it around her.

"Granger, you don't even need to wink at me. Doesn't matter what you do, you stir me up." He blinked, flinching at the sting of the hair hitting his face, but ignoring it other than that. He was perfectly used to Hermione's hair getting everywhere, even in his face. She was nearly as bad as Osiris for the shedding, but it didn't matter to him.

"Oh, god, you already told Potter?" Draco pretended to shiver. "Well, he hasn't come to kill me again yet, so he must have been all right with it. And I'm supposing that your parents didn't object." He laughed at her teasing and nodded, acknowledging the point. "Yeah, I would. You're the only person I let see me that way. Probably wouldn't let you see that much if you weren't so damned convincing. And special." He winked at her with a grin.

"I'm not really sure how he feels about it except for him being worried about me. Harry's used to keeping how he feels to himself for the most part," until he blew up under the stress, Hermione didn't add. "He just wants me to be happy and not get hurt. My dad -- are you sure I didn't tell you this? -- is a little nervous about it all, but my mum says he'll get over it once he has realized I'm happy."

Hermione smiled smugly. "I like convincing you about things." He didn't just roll over and agree with her even though she often ended up getting her way. "Do you think I could convince you to take me home now? This is lovely and the sky is beautiful but without boots covering my legs, they're a little cold. The breeze is seeping under my cloak. Besides, I'd like to kiss you properly, Malfoy. I don't want to be interrupted."

"That's all I want, love. Want you to be happy. Do anything I can to get that." He made a face, teasing. "Even be nice to the wonder boy for you."

Draco loved that smile she'd made right then. She looked so proud of herself, he couldn't help but like it. "I think you could. Take you home and get you warmed up." He raised an eyebrow at her request and muttered half to himself, already looking for a good place to Disapparate. "Looks like I might be getting a little warmed myself."

"Are you now?" Hermione purred. "And here I thought I might have to show my sexy underthings before you'd get a little warm. It's nice to know I won't need to leave a trail of clothing from the door of your flat to the bedroom to capture your attention after all." She adored that she could be sexy and tease him without feeling awkward about it. That gobsmacked look he got was always worth the effort of putting it on his face, too.

Hermione motioned off to the side where there was a sheltered place to Disapparate. Just in case any Muggles made it out this far, she didn't want to simply disappear.

Draco nearly tripped over his own feet at the image shoved into his mind by what Hermione had just said to him, and it took him a few seconds to catch his breath without it stuttering. "Oh, you can still do that. Wouldn't want to interrupt your plans, after all." He led her off to the side, pulled her into the shadows, and wrapped both arms around her to Side-along to the alley behind his building. He disagreed with the Ministry's restrictions too, and it was his house.

"Excellent. You know much I like to keep my plans in order." Not that she'd had any plans for after dancing other than the walk they took to enjoy the stars and nearly full moon. Hermione wasn't above making things up as she went along and she did have on something sexy he'd not seen before under her dress.

"I'm planning to order the birthday boots tomorrow. I have another errand to run in Hogsmeade, so I thought I'd take care of that too. If there are any adjustments you'd like to make, tonight would be the time to tell me," she told him as they make their way upstairs.

"I suspect you of having that written in your planner, actually. Friday afternoon, lessons with Draco. Friday evening, flying with Draco. Friday night, torment Draco with descriptions of what he'd love to do and see."

He led her upstairs and opened the flat's door, taking her cloak with his to hand them to Cookoo. "Nope, haven't thought of any adjustments. What we talked about before will work fine for me." He shut the door and leaned against it, watching her with a smile. "Make an excellent birthday present, I think."
