Lucius thought it would be prudent to owl the Weasley. He suspected that if the boy was going to say anything incriminating, he would have said it by now, but it would not do for Lucius to be unaware of what the Weasley planned to say - if anything. The Aurors had not come to the Manor, nobody had questioned Lucius himself, and there had been no frantic owls from the Weasley demanding a meeting.

Lucius sent Helios away with the folded parchment and orders to deliver it to Percy Weasley personally. The bird had hooted indignantly when Lucius Transfigured him so he resembled an inconspicuous tawny thing, but several owl treats had mollified him slightly. Helios was not used to being Transfigured and clearly saw it as an affront to his pride.
