As soon as Cho left for dance lessons, Percy pulled his cloak over his shoulders and went to work. First it was to the restaurant in Chinatown, Fung's, which despite the prototypical name was one of the best out there. He'd been there earlier in the week to confirm that he could have an order picked up--congee, crispy duck, hot and soup soup, and spring rolls. Next was to a fabric store where he bought a whole bolt of red and gold silk embroidered with the character for happiness, and finally, to the music store in Diagon Alley where a used but well-kept cello had been on reserve for about a week. All told the venture was setting him back a little more than he'd expected to pay for the rings, which evened out rather well, if he said so himself.
Once home, Percy set to, several feet of parchment with diagrams and minor spell modifications scribbled in the margins hovering around him as slowly, the whole flat started to take on another guise entirely. The dining room chairs were clustered together and transfigured into a small wood bridge that ran the length of the hallway leading to the bedroom. Beneath, Percy conjured the illusion of running water and with a few clever lighting spells and illusions made it look as if the bridge ran across a small river.
Each wall was given first a weather spell, and the same illusion they cast in the Ministry to make it appear as if they were outside. He conjured a warm spring day with avian choral accompanment. This perplexed Hermes and Tam and after a while the birds left, content to seek their fortunes outdoors. Next Percy built up from the bridge intricate lacquer screen walls, open enough to have a good glimpse of the false river and garden around him.
The kitchen and livingroom were made to look like a pavilion jutting from the bridge in the hallway, looking out into a vast lotus pool. Fabric draped over everything, the gold glinting it the over-bright exposure of the room. The dinining table was transfigured into a long, low surface with carved kirin for feet while couch cushions were wrapped in fabric like presents as seats. Paper lanterns, purchased on an earlier outing hung from the ceiling, waiting to be lit when the sun finally set. Lastly, the cello was placed in it's normal place and transfigured into a warrior statue.
For a moment Percy tood in the center of the livingroom/pavilion, admiring his handiwork, nearly lightheaded for the sheer amount of magic it was taking to keep the illusions going. Koi and turtles passed him in the lotus pond, moving silently through the water as it burbbled over rocks at the entrance to the kitchen. Sighing contentedly when no fault could be found, Percy walked over to the well-concealed record player and put on Cho's favorite song.
