There was a very narrow margin of opportunity for this covert operation. Lucius, despite being distracted over Draco lately, was not the sloppy or disorderly sort. He would notice that these were missing. He would question his elf, which was why she had stolen them away herself instead of sending one of the creatures to fetch the things for her. The elves could not tell what they did not know.
It had required her to arrange things in advance in Diagon Alley, but business was business, and shopkeepers were not known for turning down Galleons. The old man had been ready when she had arrived and set to work immediately duplicating Lucius' treasure. Narcissa was to return in two hours time to collect the originals. Hopefully, when she arrived back at Malfoy Manor, Lucius would be out and she would be able to sneak them back in as if they had never been gone and had simply gone overlooked. Hopefully.
For now, she had two hours to wait and decided to see if she might not find something nice for her son for Valentine's Day while she was in Diagon Alley.
