With a well-earned night off from practice, Gwenog decided instead of heading home, that she would spend the night at her parents' house and see if she could get a home-cooked meal and some quality time with her nephew. As soon as she entered the front door, Gwen could already smell dinner and her mouth started to water.

"Ma, it smells wonderful in here," she called out. "Da," she said, leaning down to give her father a kiss on the cheek as she passed his favourite chair, "you don't mind that I dropped by for dinner, do you?"

"Not at all, pumpkin," Marty said, gruff voice welcoming his daughter into the house through his exhale of pipe smoke.

The combination of the smell of meat and potatoes and her father's vanilla-scented pipe smoke welcomed Gwen home as if it hadn't been a month since the last time she visited. Had it really been that long? She knew every time she walked in the door, she felt at home, but somehow it was hard to convince herself to make time for it between practice and games and charity work and, of course, spending time with Alicia.

Gwenog made her way to the kitchen and kissed her mum on the cheek, as well. "Shall I help?" she asked.

"Nothing to help with, dear," her mother replied as she set the food on the kitchen table. "Though you can set yourself a place. I would have already, but I didn't know you were coming." Glynis smiled.

They sat down to dinner and ate, happily, her mother feeding the baby, who was sitting in a high chair next to her at the end of the table.

"Matty's getting so big," Gwen observed, as she smiled at the little one, who was eating without complaint.

Her mother smiled at her and her father nodded his head in agreement.

They had a pleasant dinner and talked about work and family and, when it came time for dessert, Gwenog broached the subject of her lover.

"Mom, Dad, I'd like you to meet my new girlfriend soon," she started. "Her name is Alicia and, before you ask, no, she's not on the team and, no, she's not a fan. Well, I mean, she is a fan - of Quidditch in general, but that's not why we hit it off. She's younger, but not too young and quite lovely. I think you'll both love her."

Her parents both nodded.

"I'd like to bring her over for dinner next Sunday, if that's agreeable."

Her mother asked if Alicia had a favourite dish, her father just smiled. It was obvious they had come a long way from the day Gwen had first told them about her affinity for the fairer sex. And, while they had never judged her, the fact that they were comfortable with her using the word 'girlfriend' said a lot about how far they had come in learning about Gwenog's life and lifestyle.

It seemed as if almost everything in her life was going well at the moment.
