Completion: Complete

Mandy walked out of her flat, shaking a bit, awkwardly, no idea why she was so irritated with Josh’s new girlfriend. There was just something about her that screamed ‘whore’ and it annoyed Mandy to the core. She clutched her notebook as she walked through the streets of Shoreditch, going into the coffee shop that she often went to when she needed to think away from the flat. She ordered a tea and pastry before sitting herself down in the corner, pen in hand, notebook open, her eyes closed, trying to get the disgusting image of those two snogging on her sofa, practically in the middle of sex out of her mind.

As she sipped her tea, she began tapping the table with her fingers, her foot tapping as well. A moment later, she got a beat in her head and her fingers could almost feel the chords. She began muttering to herself, trying to find the words.

Second chances they don't ever matter, people never change.
Once a whore you're nothing more, I'm sorry, that'll never change.

Well, there's a million other girls who do it just like you.
Looking as innocent as possible to get to who...
they want and what they like, it's easy if you do it right.

Easy, definitely the word she would use.

You’re jealous.

“What? No I’m not.” She said aloud to the voice in her head, ignoring the odd looks that her outburst had generated. How could she be jealous? Mandy just didn’t get attracted to people like that, at all. It wasn’t her.

Are you sure about that, Mandy? Maybe you’ve just tried to not blend in like other girls and-

Fuck off.

Mandy sunk down in her chair. She just didn’t like easy women was all; they made everyone else look bad. There was a difference between being a whore and being comfortable with your sexuality, just like there was a difference between being a prude and not caring about your sexuality.

Mandy began writing the random lyrics that came to her, needing to occupy her mind.

I'm in the business of misery,
Let's take it from the top.
She's got a body like an hourglass, it's ticking like a clock.
It's a matter of time before we all run out,
When I thought he was mine she caught him by the mouth.

She bit her lip, looking everything over before gathering her things and all but running to the flat. She hadn’t written something like this in a long time, she needed to try out the chords she’d written, and hopefully the tramp was out of her flat.

Mandy poked her head in before entering the flat, Josh was shirtless on the couch, watching the tube with a bowl of cereal in his hands, with what Mandy could only describe as ‘sex hair’.

“Josh, good, get over here, I need you to play something for me.” She said, with her demanding voice turned on. He looked up at her with a goofy look in his eyes that she’d only noticed when she was in this sort of mood; she’d always attributed it to be his response to being ordered around.

“All right, don’t get your knickers in a twist.” He took another bite of cereal before grabbing his bass from the corner of the room and plugging it in. Mandy grabbed her acoustic and handed Josh the music. She’d never need it again, her mind was filled with song lyrics and chords, and she remembered them as easily as schoolwork.

“Damn Mandy, this is complicated, how do you do this?” He asked, shaking his head.

“No questions, just play your part, I’ll imagine the other instruments.” She told him, something in her stomach knotting and twisting, she wasn’t sure why though.

Josh began playing as did Mandy, wishing that it was more than just the two of them. Her voice sounded between a mix of being bitter and smug as she sang, her body moving a bit as she played and sang.

I'm in the business of misery,
Let's take it from the top.
She's got a body like an hourglass, it's ticking like a clock.
It's a matter of time before we all run out,
When I thought he was mine she caught him by the mouth.

I waited eight long months,
She finally set him free.
I told him I couldn't lie he was the only one for me.
Two weeks, we caught on fire,
She's got it out for me,
But I wear the biggest smile.

Whoa, I never meant to brag
But I got him where I want him now.
Whoa, it was never my intention to brag
To steal it all away from you now.
But, God, does it feel so good,
'Cause I got him where I want him now.
And if you could then you know you would.
It's gonna just feels so...
It just feels so good.

Second chances they don't ever matter, people never change.
Once a whore you're nothing more, I'm sorry, that'll never change.
And about forgiveness, we're both supposed to have exchanged.
I'm sorry honey, but I passed it out, now look this way.
Well, there's a million other girls who do it just like you.
Looking as innocent as possible to get to who...
they want and what they like, it's easy if you do it right.
Well I refuse, I refuse, I refuse!

Whoa, I never meant to brag
But I got him where I want him now.
Whoa, it was never my intention to brag
To steal it all away from you now.
But, God, does it feel so good,
Cause I got him where I want him right now.
And if you could then you know you would.
'Cause, God, it just feels so...
It just feels so good.

I watched his wildest dreams come true
Not one of them involving you
Just watch my wildest dreams come true
Not one of them involving...

Whoa! I never meant to brag!
But I got him where I want him now!

Whoa, I never meant to brag
But I got him where I want him now.
Whoa, it was never my intention to brag
To steal it all away from you now.
But, God, does it feel so good,
'Cause I got him where I want him now.
And if you could then you know you would.
'Cause, God, it just feels so...
It just feels so good.

Mandy finished the song, a bit breathless, never before had she written something that felt so damn personal, and she had no idea why in the hell she felt this way, it was irritating. She looked up to see Josh looking a bit amazed.

“Wow… Mandy… this is… a hit.” He muttered, setting his bass down.

“You think so?” She asked, biting her lip a bit.

Why is he looking at me like that? It’s weird…. What the hell?

A moment later, Mandy felt something that she had never felt in her life, nor had she ever even imagined feeling, Josh’ lips on hers. She sat there, frozen and in shock. What did he want her to do? Kiss him back? As if she knew how! Why did men have to be so damn-well, men!

He pulled away after a moment, looking a bit ashamed with himself.

Mandy blinked, at a loss for words. Before Josh could apologize (which had better have been on his mind), his trampy girlfriend came out of his room.

“Are you coming back yet? Hello Millie.”

“It’s Mandy, Delilah.”

“It’s Stacey.”

“Funny, both sound like whore to me.” Mandy said, getting up quickly and heading back out of the flat without another word, feeling a bit sick.

Well…

Well.

Mandy had no idea what in the hell had just happened, nor did she want to go back into the flat at all, perhaps a trip to see her parent’s was what she needed.
