Surprisingly.
The longer it took to get ready, the more assured of herself she felt -- by the time they finally made their way, she'd shined herself to a former glory that had been difficult to remember as of late. A cynical part of her was sure it would be gone by the end of the night, but... First impressions were always important.
Apparating wasn't so bad, always -- not when the destination met you with the sound of waves. She barely heard Percy as he spoke, and responded with a dreamy nod. "Of course. Hex the daylights out of him."

He turned his attention on the young woman at Percy's side. "And this vision of loveliness must be Cho. You keepin' my brother in line?"
Reply
And she giggled, squeezing Percy's hand. "Your brother invented the line. You're Bill, aren't you?"
There were far too many brothers, sometimes.

He affected a sad face and tipped his head. "Oh, don't tell me you fell for his brains, Miss Cho. Though ... on second thought, actually, do tell me you fell for his brains. Don't want to know what else might have caught your eyes."

She was surprising herself, with how easily the words came tonight. It wasn't expected -- she would never have guessed -- but there it was.
"I'll oblige, then -- yes, Bill. Intelligence is attractive. When it comes to catching the eye, however, certain colors are more obtrusive than others. I'm sure you are familiar with this effect."

That wasn't very funny at all!
But of course -- her smile endured. And no hard feelings, really; she could only hope that one day Fenrir would feel like a joke.
Here was a good start: she laughed, nodding. "Poor baby."

"Darling, isn't he?" Percy grumbled good naturedly. "Harmless, really, we just let him think he's in charge." He leaned into Cho a little as they went, the sounds laughter carrying from the tent and across the wind.

"You pwetty," Teddy told her and held out half a biscuit he'd been gnawing on to share.
"Sharing is good, Chief but I reckon you can finish that one yourself. We'll let Cho have a whole one for herself, yeah? Sorry about that, I've been trying to teach him to shake hands and introduce himself." It was going to take a whole lot more repetition to get that down, apparently. Sharing was good manners though, so Charlie reckoned they were headed the right direction.

Cho smiled, turning her attention to the baby. "No, I haven't -- Why hello, Teddy."
...A secret? As much as the thought frightened her, she adored children; at his compliment, she even colored slightly, beaming. "What a gentleman! Thank you."
Turning her attention back to Charlie, Cho shook her head. "Oh no, no! It's darling. I'm impressed! How old is he?"

"You two should help yourself to some food. Mum's outdone herself again, not that that's anything new," he laughed. Charlie looked at them closely. "Merlin, I don't want to put my foot in it but I have to ask. Would it work better if I brought you each a plate? Feel free to tell me to bug off." He knew Cho's hands had been damaged and walking on sand couldn't be easy on Percy even with the cane. He didn't want to insult anyone but he didn't want things to be too hard for them either.

'Manners like that and she'd make a good mother herself some day.'
For about a second Percy stood there utterly shocked at the workings of his own mind. Thankfully the shake of his head was timed with Charlie's offer to get them plates.
"I think we'll manage one way or another. I never thought a simple levitation spell could be so useful until I learned how to summon and tie my shoes with it." It was easier now, in front of people to have a sense of humor about these things. "How Athena doing, by the way?" Percy nodded to where she was talking with Bill. "Clean bill of health from the hospital yet?"

She hadn't known how to respond to Charlie, but of course humor helped. Tie your shoes indeed.
"Yes, how is Athena?"
