Percy never though it would be a good thing to see Cho taking so long to get ready for an outing--more reminiscent of that fabled before time--but it was a welcome sight, watching the brush go through her hair as he pretended to decide between handmade sweaters. Nothing else would be fitting for a reunion. After watching Cho as long as he dared from one end of the bed, Percy pulled on a worn dark blue sweater with a faded gold "P" on the front. It had been buried for Merlin knows how long in the bottom of a drawer and smelled vaguely of pine and age ( ... )

Cho wasn't completely nervous.

Surprisingly.

The longer it took to get ready, the more assured of herself she felt -- by the time they finally made their way, she'd shined herself to a former glory that had been difficult to remember as of late. A cynical part of her was sure it would be gone by the end of the night, but... First impressions were always important.

Apparating wasn't so bad, always -- not when the destination met you with the sound of waves. She barely heard Percy as he spoke, and responded with a dreamy nod. "Of course. Hex the daylights out of him."

"Hex the daylights out of who?" Bill popped up behind the two, grinning like a monkey. A redhaired monkey with a great big smile. "Oi, Perce, glad you could make it. Most of you, at least. Mum see that jumper? She's probably hysterical with glee."

He turned his attention on the young woman at Percy's side. "And this vision of loveliness must be Cho. You keepin' my brother in line?"

"Hello! Yes, I'm Cho."

And she giggled, squeezing Percy's hand. "Your brother invented the line. You're Bill, aren't you?"

There were far too many brothers, sometimes.

"I am indeed Bill. And no matter what this hooligan might tell you ... well, we'll just leave it at that, right? Don't listen to a word he's got to say." He leaned back to look at Cho, grinning and just barely resisting the temptation to nudge Percy with a brother's right to teasing. "Should have come home sooner, I'm thinkin'. Would have liked to see how he managed to snatch up a pretty one like you."

He affected a sad face and tipped his head. "Oh, don't tell me you fell for his brains, Miss Cho. Though ... on second thought, actually, do tell me you fell for his brains. Don't want to know what else might have caught your eyes."

At hooligan, Cho couldn't help but laugh; she glanced up at Percy and back to Bill, brightening. "Oh, don't worry. There are quite a lot of words, when it comes to your brother. I can't catch all of them, you know."

She was surprising herself, with how easily the words came tonight. It wasn't expected -- she would never have guessed -- but there it was.

"I'll oblige, then -- yes, Bill. Intelligence is attractive. When it comes to catching the eye, however, certain colors are more obtrusive than others. I'm sure you are familiar with this effect."

"For your information," Percy chimed in after watching the exchange a while, seeing how Cho would fare. "There wasn't any snatching involved just a polite invitation to tea and you did know I wouldn't be able to walk properly, didn't you?" Percy cast his eldest brother a look that could have wilted half the flower garden around the cottage. "And I'm glad you see my whole family as birds of paradise, love." Percy teased lovingly. "Otherwise I suppose I wouldn't have stood a chance."

Bill rubbed his face, almost absently stroking across several of the scars that led into his beard. "Gosh, werewolf attack. Wonder what that's like?" He returned an equally chilly look, then crossed his eyes and stuck out his tongue before grinning and winking at Cho. "Carry the limping flower down to the beach, would you? Apparently he's forgotten he's a Weasley."

"I wonder," said Cho, after a moment.

That wasn't very funny at all!

But of course -- her smile endured. And no hard feelings, really; she could only hope that one day Fenrir would feel like a joke.

Here was a good start: she laughed, nodding. "Poor baby."

"It was one of the Lestranges and I have forgotten no such thing!" Percy called as Cho started to lead him on towards the tent where the rest of the family at already gathered.

"Darling, isn't he?" Percy grumbled good naturedly. "Harmless, really, we just let him think he's in charge." He leaned into Cho a little as they went, the sounds laughter carrying from the tent and across the wind.

"Merlin, Perce! Did you walk down the path?" Charlie hadn't heard the crack of Apparition. "Hullo, Cho. Have you met Teddy Lupin?" Charlie whispered in Teddy's ear to remember his manners.

"You pwetty," Teddy told her and held out half a biscuit he'd been gnawing on to share.

"Sharing is good, Chief but I reckon you can finish that one yourself. We'll let Cho have a whole one for herself, yeah? Sorry about that, I've been trying to teach him to shake hands and introduce himself." It was going to take a whole lot more repetition to get that down, apparently. Sharing was good manners though, so Charlie reckoned they were headed the right direction.

"Hi, Charlie."

Cho smiled, turning her attention to the baby. "No, I haven't -- Why hello, Teddy."

...A secret? As much as the thought frightened her, she adored children; at his compliment, she even colored slightly, beaming. "What a gentleman! Thank you."

Turning her attention back to Charlie, Cho shook her head. "Oh no, no! It's darling. I'm impressed! How old is he?"

"He'll be two in April," Charlie told her.

"You two should help yourself to some food. Mum's outdone herself again, not that that's anything new," he laughed. Charlie looked at them closely. "Merlin, I don't want to put my foot in it but I have to ask. Would it work better if I brought you each a plate? Feel free to tell me to bug off." He knew Cho's hands had been damaged and walking on sand couldn't be easy on Percy even with the cane. He didn't want to insult anyone but he didn't want things to be too hard for them either.

Percy greeted Charlie with a broad and for-once-not-forced smile. He watched Cho's interaction with Teddy and couldn't help but chuckle a little.

'Manners like that and she'd make a good mother herself some day.'

For about a second Percy stood there utterly shocked at the workings of his own mind. Thankfully the shake of his head was timed with Charlie's offer to get them plates.

"I think we'll manage one way or another. I never thought a simple levitation spell could be so useful until I learned how to summon and tie my shoes with it." It was easier now, in front of people to have a sense of humor about these things. "How Athena doing, by the way?" Percy nodded to where she was talking with Bill. "Clean bill of health from the hospital yet?"

Cho had settled into Percy's arm, leaning quietly against him; now and again, she waved softly or gave a big smile to Teddy, but for the most part was silent.

She hadn't known how to respond to Charlie, but of course humor helped. Tie your shoes indeed.

"Yes, how is Athena?"
