"No she's bloody well not," Rabastan informed the house elf, though he had no idea if the house-elf actually knew what he was talking about, "Go back and tell her no." The damned creature didn't move, and it was fast getting on his last nerve.

"Rod," he called, palming his wand to light another cigarette, "Visitor expected." No part of him seemed particularly pleased by having to announce that. He wasn't a sodding doorman.

"The hell?" Rod strode out of his room, Midian flapping irritably at the sudden movement. "Is it Mercer?" He'd left the details of that little exchange up to Rabastan and Lucius, but after their happy little tiff he somehow doubted it.

She stood, growing more annoyed with each passing moment.

So help me, he better not be playing some game with me! she thought with a smirking laugh, as she moved the heavy basket from one arm to another, I sent a bloody message! What more does he want from me?! and there was still no answer.

"Till!" she said to the closed door, "Tell them I'm here please!" she said to the empty hall, feeling a fool, "Gully! Just tell him I am at the front door," she said, not nearly as crossly as she thought. Her bliss was still permeating much of her mood. And then she heard his words and opened the door carefully, not quick to repeat her last entrance. Seeing the coast was clear, she moved into the hall, and shut it behind her, and entered the room talking.

"Okay, you are baffling. Last time, the door was locked. Now you are leaving it open?" and she stopped realizing there were not one but two men in the room she was addressing, "Good morning," she said.

"It's warded," Rabastan muttered his reply, turning his back on her to look for the brandy which suddenly seemed like a necessity. "And Hitwiards neither knock nor send idiot house-elves prior to attack."

"Introducing Miss Pansy Parkinson," he gave them both a deep and incredibly mocking bow. He wasn't a fucking doorman. And if Rod needed an introduction, he was going to need more to drink than he thought.

Pansy had sat and watched the two men stalk off without a backwards look. She shifted in her seat, seeing no reason to feign disinterest and looked at the owl. It had a menacing gaze and seemed to shift on its feet, waiting for something. Pansy put her feet on the ground, ready to rise and go get her cup of tea, and watched as the bird spread it's wings, poised for flight, and attack. Pansy shifted back into her seat ( ... )

'Lead her on', he says, Rabastan's internal monologue grumbled, getting more irritable the more he thought about it. Truth be told, it was the easiest solution. It wasn't as if he hadn't done the same to enough women in the past. The main difference there being that it only had to last a maximum of a few hours; a night at the most. And none of those women had been dubbed his illegitimate daughter as a bad joke.

But he was fast fading back into Jekyll, Hyde having vanished the moment the quarrel with his brother ended. It made things decidedly easier.

"The lady sees fit to move the furniture," he observed, more amused than anything else, "And has managed to serve herself." He eyed the server that had seemingly caused Rodolphus' -- or rather, Bellatrix's -- outburst before pouring himself and Rod another brandy, grabbing his cigarettes and seating himself within a reasonable proximity of Pansy.

Giving Rod a meaningful look -- Call off the bird. -- he lit a cigarette and simply sat there. He needed to see how his brother reacted to ( ... )

Rodolphus held out his arm and whistled Midian to heel. She wasn't as antsy as she was, so Till must have managed to find her something to eat. "It's alright now, Midian," he assured when the owl regarded him befuddled. "Miss Parkinson will be staying for tea after all." There was no hint of an apology, no sign that he regretted an inch of how their initial meeting had occurred. "Seeing as she's gone though all the trouble..."

She looked from one brother to the other, speculating what had occurred behind closed doors. They were both...too cool, too altered from where they had been when they had stormed out of the room. Her stomach was now doing huge flip-flops and she knew she was going to be ill ( ... )
