Narcissa thought it might be a bit chilly in the opera house this evening, so she had chosen a long sleeved gown in black velvet. She was just about to go in search of Lucius in his dressing room to do the clasp on her bracelet when he appeared in the doorway. "Oh Lucius, I was about to come in search of you. Would you help me on with my bracelet and necklace, please?" The pendant he had given her for her birthday would be perfect with her dress robes.

Her husband still looked upset over something but he did not appear to have reached a point where he wished her inquiries. There were some things that Lucius preferred to shelter her from and given some of her husband's former activities, Narcissa had often felt relieved about it. She did not believe her husband would involve himself in anything that might lead to their reputations being tarnished again, so she was inclined to give him his space to work through whatever it was that was on his mind. Narcissa held out her arm so he could fasten the clasp of her jewels.

"Of course, my love," Lucius replied, making his way into the room.

"You look beautiful," he said, smiling. Lucius fastened the clasps on her bracelet and necklace, and was pleased to see that she was wearing the necklace he had bought her for her birthday.

Lucius took her hands in his and looked fondly at her for a moment. Narcissa had been through so much - his imprisonment in Azkaban, losing her sister, and everything that had gone on when Voldemort had been using Malfoy Manor as Death Eater headquarters. Lucius couldn't let her find out about Draco and Fenrir, and he would not see her get hurt again.

"Shall we go?" he asked, offering her his arm.

Narcissa took Lucius' arm. "I'm ready. I had my cloak and gloves sent down earlier with our opera glasses." She did not ask if he had the tickets as some wives would have done because Lucius was not the forgetful or thoughtless sort of husband would leave something important behind.

"The Fashion Show last weekend was very successful. The group from St. Mungo's was pleased at our meeting Thursday. I am sorry it ran so late, my dear." She had been out nearly all day Thursday and a large portion of Friday working on her projects for The Friend's of St. Mungo's.

In truth, Lucius had missed Narcissa's presence at the Manor over the last few days, but he was relieved in a way that she had not been there. He had not had to explain where he was on Friday, and had not had to spend hours on end hiding his feelings from her. Moreover, he had not had to outright lie to her about his whereabouts, or what he was worried about. Lucius didn't mind not telling her things, but he did not like to be purposefully deceitful where Narcissa was concerned.

"Oh, I am glad to hear that. It is good to hear that your charity endeavours are paying off," Lucius replied. He knew how much her charity work meant to her, and it was a benefit to the Malfoys' social standing. "Is that the gown you purchased at the fashion show?"

"Do not worry, love, it is not your fault that you were delayed," he said, planting a gentle kiss on her cheek.

Lucius retrieved his dragon hide gloves and his winter cloak from the hall before Apparating himself and Narcissa to Gringotts so they could make their way to the opera house.
