Sitting on the rocky shore of the lake a man waited to see something happen. Softly singing a song, he watched the sun set the lake on fire with its fading light.

"Yellow pieces of the yearning sky
Sweep down to mellow my eye.
Falling all together until it harmonies
And for a moment all is quiet.

The ceiling begins to bloom into deeper red
Than any rose that graced your skin
Feathered forms scream their joy
And the clouds' hearts sing in violet chorus.

The distant shapes of mountains awaken
Under the cover of darkness they shift
And bright eyed amber plains shimmer
As they softly wave their nightly farewells.

Take in the last warmth of day with a breath
And hold it in until I take it away."

The sun had dropped a little lower yet it was still visible over the mountains. Fenrir was surprised to be greeted by such good weather, he'd have thought it would be gray and foggy as it was November. He was dressed in a casual Muggle shirt and had cut his own hair to minimize being recognized due to any fliers bearing his face and considerable reputation that might be in circulation.

Sam had been off in London so that he could return to his family, fairly confident that he wouldn't report him to the authorities. Sam had concocted a story all by himself for what had happened: he'd miraculously been able to get The Gallagher to Heybridge and then hitchhiked his way home. The fishermen were claimed by the storm as were so many others. No need to follow up, no traces left behind. A smile flickered across his lips at the thought of having made good his escape.

The water rippled.

Fenrir slowly stood and walked to the edge of the water. Raising his hand, he checked to make sure the strong barriers he'd put in place hours earlier were still functional and ready. They were.

A sea serpent's head rose and struck at Fenrir in one fluid motion, but the barrier held. Blinking, the serpent took in the man before it. Finally recognizing it broke into a toothy smile, "Mr. Greyback, how long has it been? Quite some time, and you've changed much. I've heard you were about in the world again." As it spoke the Kelpie transformed back into its native state.

Cold blue eyes observed the Kelpie, "Hello again indeed. The world changes and so do I, but I still have the same goals." The sun silhouetted the shape before Fenrir so that he couldn't quite distinguish the true features of the beast.

"Same goals... goals... ah, the ignorant wizards you bear so much hate towards. The Ministry is no friend of ours either. They have constantly failed to provide a safe habitat for us, and as more and more humans populate this area we find ourselves more and more irritated with being self-sufficient while others are given special treatment," growled the Kelpie. Its body stayed half in and half out of the water, bridging the gap between the land and the deep.

"I have a suggestion you might find to your liking."
