6.04 Initial Thoughts

Okay so I just finished 6.04 'Weekend at Bobby's'. I have to say that this is probably the first episode I have enjoyed from start to finish since Dark Side of the Moon, oddly enough by Dabb and Laughlin who are both my favorite and least favorite writers. When they miss, which is more often than not, they really miss. But their few hits are amazing. And Jensen did a wonderful job directing. It flowed very naturally as opposed to last week which was all over the place.

One thing I really noticed though was the humor. Usually Dabb and Laughlin are more frat boy humor which really annoys me. I don't know if someone talked to them about it or not but they seem to have finally found the right tone. The humor was perfect this episode. I laughed at every joke. I especially loved when Bobby told the hunter to call the FBI and he called Bobby's FBI line. What a dumbass! I'd hate to be on a hunt with him. Poor Bobby, always having to put up with people's shit.

I also really loved all the characters here. I loved Crowley. Loved Rufus! The sheriff was awesome as ever and the lady next door was sweet and I hope to see more of her. Hell, I hope to see more of everyone who was in this episode! I haven't felt this way in years! And I'm glad Bobby finally told Sam and Dean off. They can both be pretty selfish, not just Sam.

All in all, fantastic episode. I will come back with a full review probably tomorrow, maybe with a few thoughts from the previous three episodes since I've been sort of slacking on the reviews. I didn't have much to say about them so I can toss them into the mix for good measure.
