You may well wonder what brings a person to this ungodly hour.

In so wondering, you would have recreated the futile task of knowing the will of the heavens.

It's been a day. Vacation is better than work, to be sure, but it's been a day.

1. I had a fasting blood draw. She dug around with the first needle before quitting and getting a new one that finally worked.

2. I went to the dentist for teeth cleaning. She used her little toothbrush-shaped camera to take a digital pic of one of my teeth that needs a crown. Damned difficult to argue with a picture. That's a bit north of $500, by itself. With the other work that should be done, it's a bit north of $800.

3. I went to the Hamilton Co. Court House to file some tax credit papers which I apparently should have filed THREE YEARS AGO.

4. I took my nighttime meds with my morning meds, so I was s l e e p y all day.

5. Two of three children melted down in the first room of the Indianapolis Children's Museum's haunted house. Good thing Leah got the tickets at the grocery store where they're a dollar cheaper per person.

6. Hungry kids in a car.

7. Steve Martin will NEVER be Inspector Clouseau.

At the moment, I'm listening to a cd of rainforest sounds. Amazing how much I like it. I played it in the classroom during a writing assignment I gave last week, and the kids really liked it.

I met with one of the men who has been a mentor to me for the last 18 years, and we talked for a while about making sure that my head is in the right place about life changes that I want to make, including but not limited to selling my house. I am truly fortunate to have such people in my life.

Monical's Pizza, I must say, is quite the Hurrah pie. If you have the means, I suggest you pick one up.

I hope my car is still parked at the Starbucks where we left it when we headed to Bloomington to pick up my daughters.

I'd love to have something profound and exquisitely touching with which to close. Having nothing of the sort at this moment, I simply bid you all good night.
