Takes place after their year spent on lastvoyages , when Dean disappears on a whim Ruby carries out her duties as a warden to fulfill her end of the deal. In return for her work and saving a soul Ruby is sent back to earth as a redeemed human to get a second shot at living. Dean, however, without graduation is living the mystery most inmates and wardens concern themselves with. He doesn't remember who he is in his own life or the time he spent on the S.S. redemption. He's living an average life as a mechanic believing he's truly one of his old aliases, "Kris Warren," when Ruby's curiosity gets the better of her and she goes to find him, she finds herself romantically involved with him under entirely different circumstances. Struggling with telling Dean the truth or allowing him to live the normal and average life he always claimed he wanted she bites her tongue for the benefit of them both, only to be sorely affected later when Kris starts having nightmares about his alter ego and recognitions of what happened, both in his own time line and his life aboard the ship.
long lost brother ;; Played with Sam (mybrotherskeep ) Sam went to hell for him and expected him to be okay with it, and he tried to be for a while, Dean tried to swallow it. He tried to push his feelings out of sight and mind so that he could be a husband to Lisa and a father to Ben. He was going good for a while until his new life made him lethargic, until the life he promised Sam he'd have started to feel more and more like a cage. Dean dropped his job at the auto shop to own his own bar three months in and where one sin is, more are sure to follow. He started to cheat, sleep in his stock room and return back to the little blue house hungover and vehement. That was then, this is now. Somehow, someway Sam is back among the living and he's found Dean in the "apple pie" life he begged him to live, but they can both see he's not happy. So they do what they do best. Save people. Hunt things. And try to figure out what's changed between them, and where they're supposed to go from here.
the static age ;; Played with Kahlan Amnell (lastconfessor ) After Silas, a Wizard of the Second Order, uses a magical amulet to lead himself to Kahlan right before he died, Kahlan and Zedd use it to transport to Aydindril where Prince Fyren has usurped the Confessor's throne. However, instead of transporting her to Aydindril, the magic goes wrong and Kahlan is sent to the future, where she meets Dean Winchester. He appears as an ordinary young man in a lot of ways, it's 2005 and he's 26 he doesn't act out of the ordinary he plays his role as a modern american man. When finding Kahlan, Dean's first instinct is that she's not from around here, his first impression is that she had to have escaped from the local asylum, but despite himself he helps her in the ways that he can. Dean and Kahlan aren't as different as they think and the hunter isn't as removed from "magic" as he pretends to be. When the majority of his job revolves around lying how is Dean going to handle the Mother Confessor and more importantly how is she going to handle him?
weird science ;; Played with T'Pol (with_discipline ) After Dean's sudden disappearance on lastvoyages he was sent forward into the future, not knowing or remembering anything about his own past and his life on the ship. He'd completely assumed one of his aliases, "Ted Nugent", and was sent to be a crewman on the Enterprise. Unknowingly, the science officer aboard the ship, T'Pol, is already very familiar with him. A blast from the past gets thrown into the future. T'Pol needs to decide whether to let bygones be bygones or tamper with the admiral's will and attempt to have his memories resurface with her own science and technology when the repercussions are heavy for both choices.
another lifetime ;; Played with Jo Harvelle (incaution ) It's been at least a year since the apocalypse unfolded and ended in that bone yard in Lawrence, Kansas. Dean's been playing the husband and father to Lisa and Ben for 365 days and it still feels stale to him, he knows he's been granted a huge reprieve but without Sam it's like a piece of him is missing and he can't fully commit to her or to him. He's faced with the constant battle of cheating for instant gratification or suffering along side them. When Dean returns home from working at the garage to find Ben and Lisa slaughtered in the house he takes off in the impala in a rage, desperate to vindicate their death because of his own shame. Some call it divine intervention, others call it fate, but when Dean comes face to face with his old ally Jo Harvelle his world is turned upside down. He's torn between not wanting to trust her, or believe she's really tangible, and despite himself the hope that it's legitimate leads to him letting her in and their bond being reconciled despite the time.
promises are sand ;; The Apocalypse is over, and with Sam's sacrifice, Dean is left to pick up the pieces. And now that Castiel's been resurrected human, things are made that much more difficult to deal with. (Played with Cas).
